I know that rich people don't really waste money and still for me it seems werid how, for instance Silent Hill and MGS are both very popular franchises, but there aren't any crazy rich person who would've paid Konami so Kojima can make the next MGS/Silent Hill.
Are there any cases where the people actually did something that I'm suggesting?
Martin shkreli bought the wu tang album
he's not even close to being a billionaire but I know what you mean
didn't someone say some Indian billionaire is supporting jai paul? idk if it's true tho, my only source is a ktt post

Wrong
All I know is, if I was a billionaire. A LOT of movies & games would be getting greenlit. Idgaf.
I also can remember that I've heard that some military company with crazy money has made the korean band LOONA or they are sponsoring them and till recent time they were basically wasting money. The music and music videos are very good, but as I understood the return is not enough to cover the expanses, So in some way they are spending money just to make art.

not a billionaire, just some rich guy in medicine but he’s beefing them now

But he just bought it from the auction? I'm talking more about saving band/movie/game/creator from getting bankrupt or making sure that he doesn't have any restrictions, so he can create more.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but in K-pop there is a 12 member girl group that goes by Loona
Their parent company is part of the Ilkwang Group which is a conglomerate that have amassed billions by manufacturing arms for the Korean army.
They pretty much created the girl group just because they wanted to make good music. They spent millions and millions of dollars introducing each member over the course of a year and a half with their own solo single and EP, international music videos, promotional activities, etc.
It was easily the most ambitious debut of any K-pop group ever and it was all in the name of making fire music (they succeeded btw)
edit: didn't even peep that you made this thread and you're a familiar face in the k-pop thread. you're most likely hip then but other people might not be
idk if this counts but before facebook went public and while it was still baby sean parker paid david choe shares in the company to paint murals in their offices
so now mans a millionaire
A German billionaire bankrolled his hometown football club all the way to the top German division. He also played for them as a youngster. Their stadium capacity is 30,000 and the village population is like 3000

Wow, that's exactly what I'm talking about, thank you for going in detail, I tried to explain the same concept through LOONA but I didn't know the exact names of the companies etc.
Not modern but George Harrison funded Life of Brian because he really wanted to watch it
Phil Knight, Nike cofounder, owns LAIKA Studios (Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link)
