Quadruple a and AAA studios are not going to risk 200 million and 3 years on a game that goes against the grain when they got investors on their neck. It's the unfortunate reality. It would take a new age team to do something different

I will say, single player games as of late just cannibalize each other's concepts so those are boring as s*** to me too, I've been playing Indies mostly, barring the big single player joints like Alan wake. Love open world games but there's a lot of slop recently, Yakuza is running the show in that department, no contest.
