I have been thinking of a career switch to HVAC, but I hear even with average test scores, people can stay on a waiting list for a few years

Depends on the trade

HVAC is wildly competitive for some reason. Everyone I knew on that track switched to plumbing or whatever

HVAC has the lowest barrier to entry

Think it also depends on where you live. Where I’m at there’s a major employer of trade work that basically has a low barrier of entry and will train you essentially on the job with little to know experience

Entry-level workforce is so cooked

idk though i haven’t heard too many people having trouble getting into apprenticeships, it’s more so the after work force. even less so for hvac
