tbh i think its a lot of (arguably valid) projection

because time has legit been warped due to everyone but especially gen z losing at least a year of their youth due to covid, nihilism/doomerism accelerated by the past 5-6 years, and the state of the economy/job market leading to a lot of young people not meeting or fulfilling like any of the life goals they expected by now (moving out before 21-30, etc.)

like obviously older generations didn't like...celebrate getting older/older people and would deride them too but i think a lot of it now feels meaner/darker than it has before
