almost every rapper kinda fell off lately
Lack of substance catching up with niggas
Don’t nobody feel like listening to any nigga or female be ghetto hedonistic and narcissistic for 20 songs straight with little to no regard for technical ability or musicality
S*** is litterally boring and cringe asf atp
The Megan show I went to this year cleared every rap show I’ve seen since Bino in 2019
Give her her god damn flowers
that’s not what he said whatsoever, he said he knew if he started with blood on the leaves psychologically people would’ve initially liked the album more
Thats the same sentiment or at least i react to it the same: thats stupid lmao and the first sign that his contrarianism started not being logical anymore

i mean he felt like on sight sets the tone for the album better which i can see why he'd put it first

One of the best decisions he’s ever made
Meg is in the perfect position to be the rap Beyoncé in terms of messaging and artfulness. An instance in which an artist would benefit culturally and commercially from being less vapid

He made it seem like if the fashion s*** was going his way he wouldn’t have tried to make the album start out in such an abrasive way. Which is dumb lmao. It was the general gist of “they try to box me in as a musician so I’m going to do what they don’t want/expect me to” I watched so many interviews of him in that era
I also think Rick Rubin had a role in whatever the final version of Yeezus was vs what it was as it was coming along
Would have been a great second song after BOTL and still served the same purpose while you still get that classic Ye intro feel up until that point with BOTL

Beat selection gotta get a lot crazier for that lol but this a good concept

U spot on these niggas don’t truly love music or art in general
That Glorilla clip from a few months ago really stuck with me cuz how as a Gen Z rapper have you never heard Runaway before? Are we really at the point where u can be a superstar without being a student of this s*** at all? It’s indefensible
if she fall off tomorrow and gotta do asmr, Of bait and feet pics and s***
She still had an amazing run as a rapper lmao. Everyone not gonna have a 20 year career. A nigga like Kanye barely got to 20 years if we wanna be honest about his past few years of output. What is she supposed to rap about or what is she supposed to do beyond what she already currently does being realistic lol
how does she rank in the foot economy after the tory situation?
I think Meg the Stallion's music experiment didn't 'fail' I mean, she's got a few hits.
But her career really highlights the reality for rappers male or female, who popped post 2019, 2020 which is that no one in bulk is trying to support relatively new acts. They'll support or like a hot song and it'll go viral for a bit, but no one really cares for rappers anymore unless they're legacy acts that popped prior to the aforementioned years.
To that point, she's positioned nicely in that while no one will care about meg the stallion as a rapper, that's not really important as she's really an influencer who raps and soon most artists will lean into this way of thinking.

Its been 4 years and im sure she had access to best care but The bottoms and toes is what really matter. a scar on the roof of the foot ain’t stopping niggas lol
Disclaimer: just being clear not making light of her being shot, just a humorous way to say that her being shot not stopping niggas from thinking #demfeet sexy
Meg hate on this site always has a loser undertone.
Not even an under tone, these people hate women
Nobody wanna talk about it. Its no one right now who could drum up big interest. Hate to give this to the OVO d***riders but even Kendrick gotta show how much interest he can drum up once that other thing dies down. Drake will get a slight boost of hype if he stays quiet enough until his next drop
Someone like Veeze (hottest rapper last year) tried to start a new rollout and nada. Carti lowkey fumbled I am music rollout.
Tyler and Dot dropped great albums but its kinda like you keep what you keep in rotation and those type of album moments dont even feel the same
Even someone like Kanye can’t really drum up excitement the same way he used to be able to
Its honestly a peculiar time where no one has that much power. And at the same time everyone who remembers how it used to be may also just be getting closer to 30 so u cant tell if its just that or the game really f***ed lol
It's in all forms of entertainment tbh
With no monoculture, everything is segmented everyone lives in their own bubble. Record labels used to be able to penetrate those bubbles easily because there wasn't as many forms of entertainment.
So like, someone like Veeze in your example would have been given a real push by a label and would be hard to ignore because he'd be on TRL, He'd be on 106, his single would be on the radio where tons of people would listen to. These elements are gone, and w/o these elements making newer acts hot (beyond a tik Tok single) is harder than ever almost impossible lowkey.
The game is really f***ed and IMO, it's not due to a lack of 'talent.' In every era there were great, good, and bad rappers. The real difference is that no one has any motivation to lean into new artists.
Issue will only grow in the years to come, I think.

Roc Nation tried everything from over sexualization to the whole getting Tory locked up
And all Doechii had to do was drop some lame skits to overpass her

Magazines, video shows and radio was such a huge aspect of this s*** and its no real replacement for it disappearing

Yeah all of that can be included too.
I think people vastly underrate how those mediums shaped our taste in music, and entertainment as a whole.
Now, because of social media, streaming...we curate our own lives where as before, we kind of relied on those other mediums to dictate and tell us what we should be paying attention to which labels could finesse. They could pay for those spots to break new acts and get those new acts in front our faces.
That doesn't exist anymore.
