What gets me is that giving a s*** about other people is a GOOD THING and should be encouraged. That's empathy. We're supposed to develop that at a young age. In a vacuum, people railing against that can be a very toxic, soul-deadening exercise. Even if someone is misguided in their enthusiasm, it's a sign of basic humanity.
The problem is when people take social justice and make it about themselves, the clout, the Twitter icons and miss the point. Even if they do some good, it's ultimately just in service of what they get out of it. And those are the people trying to score woke points off old Tweets. They are the ones making cancel culture toxic.
Yeah, this is pretty much my take.
I think holding people accountable is fine, but I don't like when people try to f***ing take the "holier-than-thou" road and try to get people out for some s*** they did years ago and the person has maybe moved on or changed due to personal developments and they haven't repeated that infraction. I understand it's a way for marginalized groups to unite for some sort of cause and flex power in a way that people normally don't have, but it does nothing productive and changes nothing about the world besides alienating people.
Like bro would rather be a bum than to put a f***ing pronoun. You anti woke niggas are f***ing dumb ass b****es.
F*** that bro, that's them asserting their dominance over us. Us losing our culture essentially. Refuse to bow down to this worlds mindset. God will take care of us, that's why it's best to have ones own business(s)

The people who are really out here virtue signaling and making s*** personal are either super young and have no perspective on their place in society, or they're in it for the wrong reasons. You can tell very quickly if they're just trying to get followers.
Gen Z is in an awkward place where they have all the information in the world at their fingertips and they ability to shove their opinions in everyone's faces, but lack the experience and perspective to deliver their ideas in a tactful way. No other generation was born into that the way they were.
lol I live in the hood most my friends Jamaicans, im the nicest from everyone im around when it comes to understanding peoples issues lmaooo but you think I give af about the internet
That doesn't even make sense, use some basic logic.
Someone who doesn't give af about the internet isn't going to make a thread like this, on the internet, and get defensive like you.
People who actually don't give af are not even going to bother because they don't give af. You're here because you're invested. Go outside b it's Saturday night.
OP live in the hood most his friends Jamaicans, he the nicest when it comes to understanding peoples issues lmaooo but you think he give af about the internet
Woke and anti woke are both lame more often than not.
People have lost touch with common sense and logic these days. I just concern myself with those two things. Sometimes that leaves me on the woke side, sometimes on the anti woke.

When he said he didn't want a discussion, I thought OP wasn't going to be one of those "I'm gon respond to every post" types 😒

I should go outside, you right about that smh.

I responded to one and they got me, but yeah you right.

Yeah this discussion is necessary but usually nobody learns from them and we all just end up wasting time arguing and not getting anything done. Life is too short for all that.
depends
sometimes when people get "cancelled", it just means they have consequences for their inexcusable actions/words and throw a fit about it
other times it can get out of hand and people get "cancelled" for things taken out of context or things that are inoffensive
in terms of "wokeness", it's nice to see people in my generation looking out for one another and taking note of the plight other people experience, trying to make a positive change, etc.
however, brands making rainbow/blm logos solely for profit (that's really all it is) is honestly nauseating. politicians pretending to care for a vote or a campaign donation is pathetic. ceos saving face for things they don't believe pisses me off
so depends on who and what
We are all worthy of forgiveness and love
Besides @gesufaleg and @blonded and @Thizz

i think that's a good mindset and isolating people often radicalizes them
edit: hey 👿

I totally get the "man, chill out on that SJW s*** and leave me alone" attitude because politics have become so pervasive and personal in recent years that it's f***ing exhausting. I used to be all about discussing the pandemic and the vaccines but I'm done tbh. I don't want to hear it anymore.
The thing is, there really does need to be people who give a s*** about the things we don't. I think back to songs like Diamonds From Sierra Leone and reflect on how important that was to me. As a teen I learned something totally new and the way he spoke about the conflict between success and death within one's own race was complex and meaningful. The same thing with TPAB making issues of race and class extremely personal and relatable for so many people. Anyone could say hey, get that political s*** out of my face, stop virtue signaling, but the way it was communicated made all the difference.
Again, part of the issue is that these kids make politics (on both sides) their entire personality instead of finding meaningful and resonant ways to express their feelings. Maybe as this generation matures we'll see a more balanced and nuanced way of communicating these ideas than social media currently offers.
well, that culture should respect the fact that other cultures don't adhere to that same mindset. at some point, the gender talk should be viewed in the public eye as religion. keep it separate from politics and the work place.
go to your bar, gathering, businesses etc. just as religious ppl go to their churches, mosques and businesses.
people should understand & accept that when they're pushing foreign ideals that there's going to be pushback. in the end one is encroaching on another's culture.
