“Eddington” is about a couple (Lindsay and Marc) driving through New Mexico, on their way to Los Angeles, who run out of gas just outside of small town Eddington, New Mexico. Lindsay and Marc decide to enter the town for help. They are, at first, greeted very warmly, but, as nightfall comes, the picturesque setting soon turns into a nightmare.

I wonder if this was the first draft Ari wrote in 2019?

world of reel probably just made this up tbh

I don't get embarrassed easily but looking at my phone for more than a split second during a movie shames me deeply

Yeah satire is a very tough genre to tackle. I think a dope movie course exited here if you remove the 2020 satire or simply execute it better

I can see that perspective. I found it to be a sad story of poor choices made by Joe. Him losing his marriage due to power struggle then getting everything he wanted while losing what mattered to him. Covid more so just felt like the vessel to tell a modern story on radicalization.

What was even the point of this? Was Ari trying to say that white people was annoying in 2020? Cus he portrayed all the characters at extreme levels of annoyance especially the BLM s***

it’s one thing for the movie to not land for you, it’s another to be too dumb to not understand it

Aster might be my fav director rn tbh, all his movies are a little uneven but they all swing big and mostly hit, and I love the look and feel of them. Always tense even at their most absurd.

I enjoyed this a lot. Better than Beau for me, still not reaching Hereditary and Midsommar though.

It's long but it's well paced so it never felt like a nearly 3 hour movie. While the satire was hit or miss, I was laughing for most of the first half.

Second half hits a bit of a tonal shift (when Joe shot the homeless dude. My entire theatre got quiet asf) that worked for me, but might turn some people off.

At first I didn't care for the inclusion of real antifa.
After thinking about it more though, is there a subplot about solidgolfmagikarp hiring "antifa" to destabilize areas where their goal is to build data centres?
