AOTY, real ones know
kimmel appearance that's dope
Yeah, she's been getting a lot of push, which is great to see since she's independent I'm pretty sure
Let's go to the corner store and buy some fruit
I would do anything to get you out your room
Early reviews of this are really good
NME (5/5): Parks has a singular talent for tapping into sadness and turning it into something uplifting. ... Arlo Parks may be the voice of Gen Z, but there’s no doubt that this is a universal collection of stories that’ll provide solace for listeners of all ages and backgrounds for decades to come.
Consequence of Sound (A-): This album definitely draws from painful places, but comes out of its explorations is multifaceted, deeply considered, and above all full of kindness. The questions it asks — what does caring really look like, how do we show one another kindness when we’re angry, how do we show ourselves kindness when we’re upset or hurt or numb — are essential ones, and we’re lucky we have Parks to guide us through them here.
The Independent (4/5): The charm – and perhaps a flaw – of Collapsed in Sunbeams is how easy it is to drift in and out of it. At times, Parks’s prism colours and ideas can leap out, scatter and startle you. At others, the myriad references to fruit and fashion alongside mental health catchphrases can feel like flipping through a magazine. But then, that’s how the light works. And I’m so glad Parks is here to brighten this dark year.
The Guardian (4/5): It appears to announce the arrival of a major new talent, though you never know: the path of an artist stuck with the Voice of a Generation tag is fraught with pitfalls. You can succumb to self-importance, you can discover your skills lay in describing a specific moment in time and struggle to move on. But that’s the future, something that currently feels more imponderable than ever. Right now, Collapsed in Sunbeams feels like a warm breeze in the depths of a miserable winter.
eh, maybe she'll blossom into something better someday
for now she'll be grouped in with the finneas's of the world and will get some pseudo heartfelt Zane Lowe interview.
green eyes is touching tho
Someone put me on in the thread I posted so I’ll def be listening to the album she’s nice
looking forward to first listen
hurt was low-key annoying af after a while tho
Probably my least favorite song on the album tbh, not sure why it's the one her label keeps pushing
Hope, Black Dog, Just Go, Caroline are all better as singles imo
