Im always impressed by the ability of certain artists to take a flow or sound and make it their own or even better!

What are your favorite or least favorite examples of these?

Drake getting his rap style from Phonte of Little Brother is still pretty crazy. That’s like if the next superstar was inspired by Open Mike Eagle or something

Slick Rick has a huge footprint and I generally like all the guys who cribbed off of him more. Andre 3k, Nas, DOOM etc.

What I love about this is not just that Drake really morphed his f***ing vocal chords to do a near 1:1 impression of Phonte’s voice, but all he did was evolve that specific style and incorporate his own sauce into it

How he made it so mainstream friendly is beyond me

He perfected Phonte's rap flow but Phonte's singing ability is way better.

King Tee and Biggie immediately come to mind.

Biggie was lowkey heavily influenced by the West Coast in general.

What's crazy is that Kool G Rap has so many sons on the lowkey but his style has yet to be perfected.

Pun came close but G Rap is still in his 50's rapping sharp as ever.
