I don’t think that’s what this thread means lol. I took it as “artists who’s first album is clearly so highly ranked, they tried to top it but never could.”

By that definition, Nas is absolutely a good example of this

    Cudi

motm2 sold more first week tho, as did indicud.

...and none of Cudis solos have been given critical acclaim.

And motm2 is Cudis magnum opus to most of his fans.

Yeah but neither of those albums are as good. But I guess if we are talking about album sales purely then he’s out of the conversation. I’d argue most people would agree Man on the Moon is a classic or at least the one with the most classic potential and everything else ranges from good to mid to bad

MOTM2 is better than MOTM. Most people would agree with that statement. It was also more successful commercially and in terms of acclaim. Ya wrong man

    No not at all

A s*** ton of cudi fans hold motm2 just as high if not higher.

And he’s done the exact opposite of chase the success of the motm albums hence why the very next album he dropped was a rock album....if anything cudi has spent a big chunk of his career out in left field instead of following the motm formula.

You don’t think he could’ve made music like ppds and ksg earlier instead? He just wanted to do his own thing that’s the type of person/artist he is.

Cudis label pushed heavily for a motm3 right after motm2 but he didn’t give af.
