Any artist that had some heat but took a left turn creatively?

Vic Mensa comes to mind, dude had a nice lil backpack diet chance sound (Without the annoying voice) and then had one of my favorite songs but he never really followed up on that sound

Same for Jazz Cartier, I swore every year would be the year he blew up but looks like he switched to a more generic Toronto sound and thats all she wrote
