Funnily enough, people continue crying saying Rocky needs to go back and make the kinda tracks he was making on Live.Love.ASAP...
So y'all literally want him to make the SAME TRACKS he was making ten years ago...but y'all complaining that he's been making the same songs for eight years......do y'all actually know what y'all even want at this point?
LLA - concise sound without any distractions.
ALLA - concise sound with hints of experimenting and great writing. Don’t know why he strayed away from this.
Testing-Now: All over the place on some Jaden Smith s***, no direction, talks about the same s*** over and over again.
I meant 8 so i’m not counting ALLA aka his best work. But if you want to dive into it, he’s not a great songwriter. All he does it talk about 3 of the same things no matter how diff the production is. Testing is ass because he wears his influences on his sleeve instead of making his own unique s*** like he did on ALLA. He’s been all over the place and has not grown as his on artist and this is coming from someone that was a huge fan.
"I meant 8 so i’m not counting ALLA aka his best work"
ALLA was literally 8 years ago though.
Man we all know we aren’t listening to Rocky for groundbreaking lyrics and concepts, you can say the “raps about the same 3 things” critique about plenty of rappers
Rocky had great bars up until Testing. Do you know what YOU’RE talking about?

Nigga you know what I mean. I meant SINCE ALLA you f***ing idiot

He had quotables but I wouldn’t ever call his lyrics great at any point of his career, its always been his flow, production and swag on a song that sets him apart
From here on out I am PROTESTING against listening to any further ASAP ROCKY music!
Like this post if you are taking a stand now too!

I’m done with this convo, stay blessed my brother

What songs are these amazing lyrics in? I’ve been listening to Rocky since his first tape and I was never in it for the bars

It's been like this for a long time, a lot of the general criticisms towards Rocky are nonsense
That being said I'm totally sick of his antics

Even then Rocky has been expanding his subject matter for tracks. Songs like Gunz n Butter, Same Problems, DMB, Purity, and Changes, and even leaked songs like Blur/Finally Free, Millionaire Problems, have seen him get much deeper into a political rap, introspective rap, and matured love bag.
People who say that Rocky has not grown as an artist really just expose that they don't pay attention to him, and unsurprisingly, just wanna keep him in the box of making the same stoner and leaned out tracks he was making ten years ago.

I agree if anything his lyrics were more interesting on Testing and ALLA, he def went into more topics other than women and fashion

lol ok bro whatever you say. There’s a reason why he isn’t in the same artist convos as niggas like Kendrick, Cole, Drake, Tyler and even Travis anymore. It’s not just cause he takes long either. S*** even Carti surpassed him in terms of interests

All great songs but other than a couple I wouldn’t say they’re strong (and I hate the word) lyrically
As I said his flow and charisma are his strengths as a rapper, I’m not claiming he can’t rap I’m just saying we aren’t listening to Rocky for lyrics.
Rocky forgot how to make great music
This man nowadays is reduced to the status of "Rihanna's baby daddy" unfortunately
I hate the "don't let me get in my zone" ass static drums, like seriously man what year is it
Rest of the song is good

This is what i’m saying. It’s been like that for a minute though
