Y’all mad because he’s talking about some of your favorite rappers lol

This was the comment with a little more context

CARMICHAEL: Let me ask you a question about growth. How do you feel growing older in rap?

ROCKY: Rap is in its adolescence and it’s been stuck here since Soulja Boy. Before, everybody looked 35 and up. When Lil Wayne and Jay-Z and T.I. and Jeezy and Ross was on, rappers looked old. Like, we had Lil’ Bow Wow and that was it. That all changed with the internet and self-releasing. Now, rap is stuck in this braggadocious, adolescent space. It’s not as mature.

CARMICHAEL: Jay-Z was the first rapper I ever listened to who was talking about family.

ROCKY: For real. But the thing is, being a rapper now, you don’t want to exclude anybody or neglect any demographics. As somebody that people look up to, there’s a responsibility to put people on the right path.

I love that basically he’s saying “i perceived rappers as looking older before I, myself, grew up and became a grown man”

Woo lord, c'mon Jerrod you are 35 years old you cannot be serious.

Rocky Is telling the truth but at the same time bro releases some of the most vapid content I've ever heard from such a critically acclaimed artist.

Wait til they discover Life Is Good which was basically the blueprint for Jay Z to make a 4:44...though Jay Z stans hate to admit this reality

this whole interview's proof that rappers can be some of the most casual listeners of hip hop tbh.

What Rocky said was half right. Think it’s disingenuous to refer to the entire genre as adolescent though. That’s just incorrect even tho it is a newer genre

On the other hand he def called out some of y’all’s fav rappers. Drake stans for one thing but it’s makes sense, he’s like 35 and doing the exact thing Rocky was talking about

I also get Rocky is dating Rihanna or whatever so y’all also gotta s*** on him for that

You had Rocky getting into political raps, self-reflection, and insecurity all throughout Testing but you know. He been rapping about the same s*** 11 years ago.

Swear Drake stans are so used to hearing the same exact s*** on every album from Drake they automatically assume every other artist on the same tip

Drake stans are known for not being fans of hip hop. They only listen to Drake-adjacent artists like PARTYNEXTDOOR, Lil Wayne, The Weeknd, etc. that’s why they always come into threads with ignorant posts.

"CARMICHAEL: It’s natural. Haven’t you laughed at the lowest moments? I’ve been in really devastating situations, and laughed because something just broke through to me.

ROCKY: Yo, no bullshit. The day Yams died, me and A$AP Lou found him and he wasn’t responsive. We ran to the kitchen to get water, ice, s*** like that. I got to the kitchen first, and I could see into the hallway. I’m at the sink pouring water, and I look down the hall and see Lou running to help me grab some ice to wake Yams up. It was like a cartoon—my man tripped and slid down the hall on a carpet like Aladdin, bro. He went from the living room and slid all the way to the kitchen. I’m literally dying crying, but I’m crying from laughing, and I’m crying ’cause Yams is dead."

RIP Yams man. NYC's last great hip hop A&R

The only criticism I ever hear people make regarding drakes music on this site is that line.

Which makes me think people here don’t actually listen to it and just repeat what they see in threads.

It’s the equivalent of people criticizing kanye but only ever saying “bleached a******s”

Not to say that either is immune to criticism but it sounds disingenuous when you just use the ktt starter pack line lol

I listen to enough of Drake’s music to pull out some awful lines. The lines below were written by a manchild.

“LOLOL, I’m glad you find this s*** amusing” (U With Me)

“I follow one of your friends, you unfollow me
Then you block them so they can't see
You liking someone just like me”(Summer Games)
