  • I remember when the leaks for AC Origins happened and the screenshots and what not showed the underwater wildlife and whatnot and talked about the new direction the series was going. The series may be ridiculed for being ran into the ground now, but as the first game using the new style it's amazing. The small boats you can use on the rivers and the amazing water graphics. But the setting is my favorite thing about it. Not enough games use ancient Egypt as a backdrop (especially in an open world) for a game and Ubisoft did a phenomenal job. The deserts, the rivers, the pyramids, the characters like Cleopatra, Bayek and Aya.

It has some repetitive stuff of course like clearing out the enemy encampments and villages etc but it's still fun as hell. The graphics, while still holding up, were just incredible for the time. I remember when I went to look at the map for the first time, and started to open more of it up as I progressed, I realized they really did a dumbed down version of the whole country of Egypt which was amazing
Still to this day one of my favorite games and wish I could play it again.

  • First time I had ever seen a rendition of what the pyramids may have actually looked like before they aged centuries more. Love how the camera zooms out to showcase the scale of the whole thing. Those who never played this should

Only RPG ass creed I fully beat Felt like the perfect mix of open world activities and the linear story slowly pushing you forward. Ubi Montreal just get it

I think Odyssey is better overall (main story and gameplay) but it's very bloated in comparison. They just kept going bigger and bigger until Valhalla sunk them

I personally like Shadows, Origins, Odyssey & Mirage

Valhalla was whatever to me. Probably the only one I haven’t finished.

  • Idk about amazing but I enjoyed it. Combats a cool switch up before the other games ruined it. Egypt is beautiful at times. The level gatekeeping was my biggest gripe. I hafe open world ganes that tell me I cant do this because im not a high enough level.

I played this after Black Flag Resynced and was a bit disappointed tbh. Really strong start and the Egypt setting is sick but the main storyline started to drag by the half way point and by the end I was just glad it was over.

Also I feel like Aya needed more screen time cause her parts seemed like they were missing pieces and it was weird playing as Bayek the whole game only for him to get totally sidelined at the end. I know she was originally gonna be the protagonist but point still stands. (It would’ve worked better with her as the protag tbh, especially with her becoming Amunet)

I hear the DLCs are good though maybe I’ll get around to those.

Yeah nail on the head, they don’t know how to actually tell a story. They just know how to start an interesting story, soon after that it falls of a cliff.

Even Black Flag, as likeable as the characters were, had glaring pacing issues with the story. It doesnt totally bring it down for me cause the rest of the game is so goated but like damn, hire an actual writer that can handle a script.

Unity was a gorgeous game, but was a technical mess at launch which soured the fanbase. Syndicate was alright from what I remember.

Depends on who you ask. Valhalla is my least favorite in the series but yet its the best selling one of all time.

There is no general consensus. Some people hate the RPG elements. Some people don’t mind them.

The internet isnt the most accurate representation of real life.

It isn’t a perfect game but I’d rather replay it than that grindfest slop known as Odyssey

I didn't mind Valhalla personally, but I had to drop the game as it was too much. It's the best selling mainly do to being dropped during the lockdown.

Damn I thought Valhalla was the grindfest. You mean to tell me there’s one before it

I only bring Valhalla’s sells up to simply say that those games that the internet says are s*** are some of the best selling ACs. They didnt all come out during covid. Odyssey is the 3rd best seller behind IV. 3 of the top 5 are from the RPG era of AC.
