I was at a party yesterday and I was playing lazer dim 700 and Osamason, and I had a ghastly realisation. I should’ve played some fat pat or brandy, because I felt like that steve buscemi meme. No point chasing what’s cool in rap after a certain age I feel
It’s so over
i don’t think there’s anything wrong with staying tapped in with new music as you get older, there’s no gate that stops you from doing that
just don’t be one of them niggas that use it as some sort of coping mechanism for aging
maybe i hang out in different circles but i cant imagine a party where playing lazer dim 700 doesnt immediately kill the vibe
I feel like rage music (or whatever the hot term is now) is a completely different genre. Hip-hop is already a huge umbrella and I think it would benefit both parties if rage music split off into it's own thing. It's already a different culture - how many of these artists and their fans care about the Drake/Kendrick beef or have even spoken on it?
unless youre fantano or someone else who absolutely has to keep their taste fresh for some direct purpose id say what youre describing happens to the vast majority of music listeners, like, 99% regardless of age. but over the long term its more visible for sure
like my boys who were all over Atrocity Exhibition and those Boldy James tapes keep bumping that stuff but dont care for any other newer rapper working in the same lane with less expansive discogaphy. hella people dont find any value in keeping up with the schedule too

Finna start playing John Coltrane from now on
ironically this is a high school mindset, nobody cares what you listen to OP
I agree, but having to justify your taste is also s***ty
My current mindset, and I don't think it would change:
I look for new music in my own pace. I'm not like how I was at 15 years old trying to listen to all the classics and catch up with all the trends. but I'm still interested in music enough to give new artists and new albums a chance.
