Such a classic. Was talking about Mars Volta and @op was kind enough to remind me of this thread. Still one of my favorite albums ever.

Absolutely. It’s a well known record but there’s plenty of people who probably haven’t heard it, or heard anything beyond One Armed Scissor, that have no idea what they’re missing out on.

Absolutely. One Armed Scissor was my introduction and I had that on repeat for a while before I moved on to Relationship of Command and In/Casino/out + Vaya eventually. It is a shame some people will just not get past listening to the hit single for this band. Or any artist/band for that matter. Like the hit singles are great and they're hit singles for a reason, but usually there is a lot more to unpack and not everyone is interested in that.

No doubt, and that was my intro to them as well. Loved the chaotic energy of the band, and the chorus is so catchy. It’s a strange album but definitely worth investing the time in so hopefully anyone else reading checks it out

Thank you, Vae, I appreciate that. Perhaps you also have concise thoughts to offer on the album or the rest of their discography?

omar a genius
What about Cedric?
cedric goes without saying
cant remember the exact album but i remember reading about a project where omar wrote all parts separately and forced the band to record them isolated from each other - compiling the tracks himself
maybe someone knows more, atdi will always be top 10 for me but im not a mega fan
