I'm torn between these three headphones because i heard their the best in this price range. I'm looking for a headphone thats good for both producing and decent enough to listen to music casually

    Well get M40x

Least expensive and most neutral sound there ever is

Im deciding between the M40x and 50

    I have OG athm50 and bdt770p80

For mixing and working directly thru daw etc esp at night the bdt are perfect but if you wanna hear how most people are gonna hear the music in the majority of decent headphones then the athm50s closer to the experience you’d get from a monitor cause they hit way harder

If you care that much tho then get a amp/Dac which if you produce u probably will or have one anyways

what makes you indecisive between the two ? I heard a lot of ppl saying the 40's are superior ones but never really understood why

The newness of the 50s and the price of 40s which is cheapest

It doesn't really matter to me if the difference is not that big

I'd like it if it's a neutral sound as marketed.

it really depends on ur taste.

m40x is neutral, dt 770 is v shaped

m40x has removable cable, but its in 2.5mm and with ATH proprietary cable ( you can remove that piece like i did with mine)

m40x gets uncomfortable with glasses, idk about dt 770 cause i dont have that but from what ive heard, its pretty nice

    fyi

BD custom studio's are dt 770's that are more neutral, with a nicer design (imo) and detachable cable

If you are looking to use headphones in conjunction with monitors then the ATHs are great but if you're using them exclusively for producing then they might get a bit uncomfortable after a while.

i have only tried 50x briefly but they seemed pretty similar comfort wise. not much difference between them in that area.

i would go for 40x myself if you're set on ATHs
