Been listening to Live Love lately and yea he def improved on ALLA
I’m biased though, seeing the lead up to his debut tape was cool. Was already anticipating it then it dropped and it exceeded my expectations
By the time he dropped ALLA I was a bigger fan so I was attached to my personal idea of what direction Rocky should go in. Feel like that’s why I wasn’t able to fully appreciate it. I was running it heavy but I was too focused on the flaws. Def grew on me over time. A lot of those songs are some of Rocky’s best moments artistically
I still lean towards the tape being his best project. Works better as a full package imo. I feel like it flows better. Feels more cohesive. It was more impactful to me. That whole wave was so fresh. A lot of people borrowed swag after it dropped bc people hadn’t heard a full tape that captured that feeling. By the time ALLA dropped the novelty was gone. Guess you could say ALLA was a lil more ambitious but I don’t really listen to the second half (outside of M’$ ofc)
No cap though when I look at individual songs from each project I can see why someone would choose ALLA. By 2015 he was a better artist. His sound was more polished/refined. That run from L$D to LPFJ2 is crazy. We got some great visuals from that era too. Gonna run it today
rocky has one of the best personality test discogs cus i love testing and dont like alla but there's so many that feel the opposite way. liking alla a lot is a great way to signal that you rock biker jeans
ALLA def a ripped black skinnies album
Holy Ghost such an underrated track
Easily a top 5 Rocky song imo
That Danger Mouse production blows me away everytime, Plus Joe Fox and Rocky singing at the end is beautiful
classic album

Easily a top 5 album of all time for me, that being said, Holy Ghost and Dreams were always the tracks I ranked slightly lower than the rest, and those are the only ones everyone’s talking about itt lmao
Max B/Better Things supremacy
Bring me back man
I'm honestly really blessed to have experienced this album when it dropped overseas in Thailand

I love this album but of all time is wild lol
ALLA has aged great. It wasn’t incredibly beholden to any of the trends at the time and so it doesn’t sound particularly dated. The closest things to trendy on this album was maybe the inclusion of a Future feature and the flip of that bones song, and even then theyre pretty unique/unorthodox as far as those go.

Probably the most unique utilization of Future I’ve still ever heard besides the way he showed out on Scientists & Engineers
