Yes! Sinners was in theaters for 45 days and then it went to PVOD where you could rent it for $20. Then a month later it finally made its way to HBO. That’s 11 weeks from the movie being released theatrically to it being available on a streaming service.

How many people stay home entirely if they know it’s going to be on Netflix two weeks from now? You can’t just look at those first two weeks of box office, you have to cut that in half from all the people that’ll just stay home and wait the two weeks. Something like that kills the theatrical business entirely.

None of these movies would be anywhere near this if they had a 2 week only lifetime in theatres (even less with a day-and-date theatre + netflix release which i've seen some people also offer as a possibility since stuff being on netflix hasn't stopped kpop or stranger things from doing well in theatres)

Ellisons aside were talking about a traditional movie studio that gets most of his revenue from traditional movie releases, they defo will seek to enhance that. Netflix on the other hand is in the streaming business and the endgame is pretty much have more subscribers
