Movies are still making hundreds of thousands in their 3rd week. I’ve brought this up before but Anyone But You would’ve been a flop if it was pulled after 2 weeks. Now it’s credited for bringing romcoms back to theaters

45 days for a lot of these movies is nuts and worthless

I rewatched Oppenheimer weeks later for a third time because it was still theatrically exclusive at that point.

If more movies did longer theatrical windows, there'd be more push to see them more often/spread out like that

Do films make a majority of their box office after the first 3 weeks? Obviously not.

But why should potential hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars that are found in the late weeks of a theatrical windows just be completely thrown away?

A film like Sinners made $50M domestic cumulative from its 5th week through its 9th week. That’s a good chunk of money that would’ve never existed had the film been pulled after its 3rd week (that’s almost 20% of its total domestic box office btw)

I went to the theatres probably 60 times last year but mostly i was going to see classics that had special screenings
I saw a lot of the new studio movies but usually in the first 2 weeks they were out
I think f1 is the only one i saw late

People on here doom posting “ man of tomorrow will possibly only be in theaters for 20-30 days “ like theaters don’t have damn near empty showings after that time . Anime movies be in theaters quick rake up the money and get out .

Many major films would still likely get an extended window not all . IMAX screens are liemax. We lack 70mm. AMC is feasting off subscription but are the movies in most cases ? No

It cost money to rent a screen for that extra time . I’ve seen a movie later and been the only one in the theater even on major movies . Sinners had good word of mouth kept going . I think they adapt to how it’s going . We are not talking special cases we are saying NOT EVERY MOVIE NEEDS THAT LONG.
