Paramount puts out nothing but slop anyway. Look at their slate the last two years

    Yes

One, the terms of the settlement agreement only last five years, after which they can do whatever they want.

Two, they can just claim literally any of these things happened/are happening to weasel their way out of their obligations during the five year period the settlement agreement is in effect.

Three, the only listed punishment for failing to meet any of the terms is forced sale of assets, which goes into effect only after they're given a six month remedy period

So really they're bound by nothing. None of these terms are enforceable before, during, or after the length of the deal. Democratic leadership worked with Trump and the Ellisons to push this through at the expense of workers and got nothing in return. So business as usual for all involved.

I think the aftermath of the first clause would be interesting to see say in 5 years with a Democratic administration (I know I’m reaching at this point based on how the party moves but just a hypothetical) potentially forcing a break up. It’s not impossible. Likely improbable though.

  • Also I wonder would Paramount still off Miramax anyway. They’re going to be in debt regardless and making a couple billion off Mirimax could help.

I have seen absolutely nothing from Democratic leadership to make me believe that they would even consider forcing a break up.

Our best bet is that they end up folding/having to break themselves up due to their massive debt load and lack of profitability. I have seen more than a few smart/in-the-know voices in the space say that this is far more probable than a government mandated breakup.

Again yeah that scenario has a minuscule chance.

But them breaking up out of necessity could definitely happen. Especially if the AI bubble pops and Larry has to pivot priority to Oracle

You're absolutely right, it does all go back to that, but as far as this particular issue is concerned it is Democratic leadership from our flagship Democratic state that let us down. Fully expected, but still disappointing nonetheless

Democrats haven't been able to let me down in years. I fully expect them to lose or simply sell out the public interest

    They are Zionists after all
