It really doesn't matter what supernatural, non human being caused all of this. I think placing the blame on one person who hasn't even been introduced kinda dilutes the struggles and ideas that motivate our characters. It's part of why I'm really skeptical of what they're doing with Ymir. If it turns out that she was controlling Eren the entire time I'll be super disappointed as that's a major disservice to his character development

If they do ever reveal it, I hope they just say that Ymir made a deal with the devil or something along those lines.

Now that I think more on it, I’m starting to understand what they meant... the devil itself is a side character compared to the development of Eren.

My theory is that the devil that gave Ymir her powers was in fact Eren some how.

That, or aliens.

Something like that could be possible. Chapter 1 and Chapter 122 relate with their names (To You, 2,000 From Now vs From You, 2000 Ago) hinting towards a bigger connection since we now know about future memories and future influences causing past actions. Eren could be the one to pass on the Titan shifter abilities himself to Ymir from the future to her past, thus causing a constant loop of war. The spine/centipede creature might be a certain ability we have yet to see which grants Eren that exact action of transferring something.

Also: "The only one who can destroy all the titans is the devil". A very arbitrary line when you see it without much information of what follows after. It could literally mean Eren can break that 2,000 year loop of human-titan war. My guess is he sacrifices himself (or someone kills him) and a new future (or past, technically) is created since the 'Devil' would be erased.

Going off of my post above, I theorize that this is a look at the new beginning caused by the elimination of the "Devil", where titans no longer exist.

All I know is bro, this is gonna end with 2 separate timelines coming into effect.

1. Will end with Eren basically dying/letting himself get killed (Itachi vibes) to bring peace, but his actions prior to his death will lead to the 2nd timeline below.
2. The past will have changed as a result, and a younger Eren will wake up in the Shiganshina meadow to his mother calling out him to come home.
