Idk if I neccesarily agree. I need to reread. Many peoples problems are that a lot of erens character arc and certain other characters was wasted.

For eren it seems weak that in the last chapter its revealed that most of his actions, especially his visceral hatred/rage, etc. which was shown so well was basically an act the entire time? Let me know if I understand this part wrong because it isn't really explained at all per fan translations. Historia as a character post time skip was definitely wasted, probably an editorial decision that or he had no good ideas on what to do with her. Literally every other pre-timeskip character was used much better than her (for me).

Because the themes that AoT dealt with and settings were more complex than most shounens. I'd put it in with the bracket like FMA where its definitely more complex than what people expect of the genre

I can see both sides I think it can make sense that someone would need to douse those emotions to go through with mass genocide. Most people would have to be down right evil to the core or some form of completely insane to live with doing that. Eren was more of the insane part with the paths memories and seeing everything, but he still felt guilt and inside was still the same emotional kid we know from pre timeskip. So like I feel it makes sense that he'd still be like that and had to put on that act or remove himself from his emotions. In the same light I can see why people may see that as a flaw, but I don't think it's bad or wasted really, I think it's an outcome out of many possibilities that makes sense.
