I think its implied there's only one of these parasitic entities that have titan powers, and i think its also implied this parasite has become a part of the first titan, so i dont think others exist at this point
How can they assume this parasite is the only one that exists on Earth?
Anyway @Stardust I understand there was foreshadowing and what happened wasn't just unprompted. But I feel like every time a big twist like this happens, it kills a lot of the plot that happened before. Seems like everything they did in S1-S3 doesn't really matter now.
She doesn't have personality
Hmmm, isnt she a girl born into being an overly obedient kid and then into slavery, thus preventing her from developing any emotions or personality? As a little kid in her village, she tried to be gentle to everyone in hopes to receive love and affection, thus cancelling herself in service of others, and when being enslaved, she was removed of her tongue and lived a life where emotions or a striking personality werent needed or possible for her, i think that's the whole point of the backstory. She had no agency, in fact after obtaining such powers she didnt utilize them to the fullest, since all she knew was being a robot that served a s***ty medieval king, to the point not even death could save her from her mental chains. Now that she realized thanks to eren that she's a normal girl who doesnt owe anything to anyone, i hope they show a bit more of her after this moment so maybe she can become more interesting to you!

Because if there was another, in a 20th century resembling world i think it would've been found already, especially if these parasites reside inside huge ass trees, and considering Marley was frenetically looking for the founding titan powers, it would've been already theirs if they found another one

I actually love how the story got so grandiose and so different from earlier seasons, although i dont think what you're saying necessarily happened. In seasons 1-3, us viewers and the characters in the show were ignorant to everything in the world, and we had no knowledge of an outside world being still populated. With the basement reveal, everything we knew was turned upside down, and the scope of the story got bigger, because more knowledge of the situation our characters are in made the story suddenly bigger and complicated. Seasons 1-3 were about killing titans and getting out of the walls, seasons 4 onwards are about these same people in those tiny walls in that tiny island against the world, it was always meant to be this way.
Its fine if you preferred the first part, quite a few people do, but i think the way the story has progressed is natural, logical and difficult to grasp, and i love it so much. When the episodes about the truth hidden in the basement released, i remember being mindblown about how much my perspective on everything i had seen had changed, and it made so much sense.
What happened in the first 3 seasons wasnt useless, because all their victories, all their findings, all their hard work led to them discovering the truth of the world

Yeah, I understood this is why she doesn't have personality, but obviously when a character doesn't have character I'm not going to care about her very much... It seems like everything that could've been said have been said, and that while her story is very tragic and gruesome (disgusting to watch really) it didn't move me at all because I just felt distant from everything happening.
If you ever want to get back to this story @FLIZZY even tho you said you dont like it that much, i think that a rewatch/reread will make you reconsider a lot. The nature of binge watching unfortunately makes people miss nuances and key moments get lost, but you're not to blame, many itt including myself had to rewatch the show because the story is that complex and demands that much attention

It's just too coincidental that it's just one parasite and just one person affected by that parasite. They didn't say or do anything to establish that it could only happen once, plus just because humans searched for it doesn't mean they would find it.

Yeah of course, i think that whats memorable about her so far is what she represents instead of what she is, so in a way i agree with you, although i still feel a lot of empathy for her and the climax of that episode made me tear up, but that may be due to me thinking about this story often and trying to deeply understand the message of this story, which ymir's backstory addresses in a gruesome way.

One good thing I have to say about this story is that they probably intended to make it feel biblical and it did. Just like the bible doesn't really go into details it was mostly focused on one message and told for one reason: to explain why Eren could influence her.

You probably wont like this, but i think the encounter between ymir and the parasite was purposefully coincidental, because it accentuates how all the tragedy in the world happened because of a fated encounter that could've changed the world for the better but instead provoked countless suffering. Its beautifully tragic, there's no science behind it, you dont even know what exactly is that thing, but that makes it more intriguing to me, i love when stories dont go in too much detail to explain the unexplainable (although isayama could've explained some more about why for example there are only 9 titan powers, that i will criticize).

Oh absolutely, the part with ymir especially. Hell, ymir building titans and curing titan shifters with sand is a direct biblical reference. Its surreal, mystic, otherworldy, and i personally prefer this to a scientific explanation of the titan powers, although i see why people would expect that

I'm ok with a story being vague, but it's very detailed in other places so that's why it felt off to me
Like One Piece. The devil fruits are pretty stupid and haven't been explained yet. But since it's not supposed to be deep I accept that there are just super power fruits.

Yeah i can agree with this

One piece is another can of worms. I think oda wont be able to explain everything, far from it, and im ready for the s***storm its going to cause. But in these kind of stories i dont really care to have everything told to me. I still have my issues, but to me its not that deep. As long as oda shows us the truth aboht the void century im good tbh

i think its a reference to norse myth
ymir the first giant, the big paths tree is yggdrasil, etc
the parasite is the serpent nidhogg thats trapped in the tree, its release heralds ragnarok
which i guess is what happens in aot
eren also references odin in a lot of ways, the birds, eyepatch, wanting to change fate etc

One Piece is a different story. I feel like I'm not supposed to take it so seriously. There are jokes that are legit part of the lore and I like it. Makes it a really colorful world.

You're stuck on something small that doesn't matter at all. This story is not about the parasite and where it came from. It's about everything that happens because the parasite is here. They are not the same thing, not the same question, not the same conclusion. Focus on the story at hand.

Im with you, but a lot arent. Some people have made a career out of theorizing about one piece, and generally online one piece fans are fairly dedicated to finding answers. Idc tho, i dont read one piece to get answers to honestly minor and inconsequential questions, but ill stop here cause its off topic

That's just fictional writing though. We don't need a back story on how that tree grew, filled up with water, and had the little guy hanging around there to explain the logic

It's hard to explain my issue but, when Zeke's solution is to euthanize an entire race to prevent Titans from existing, and it's explained as this thorough, calculated solution, when it's overlooking the possibility of a new Titan race created in the same way it feels like a flawed solution

Yeah, but this time they know how to kill any new titans pronto. They have planes and tanks now to kill the first titan that pops up.
They also can immediately stop any chance of colossal titans from being stocked up.

I think both Armin and Zeke aren't as smart as they think they are
