It was a sand art I made on my phone , it basically was inspired by the Red October, Pure Platinum, Wave Runners and Graduation.

For some reason it didn’t persist after switching devices and I low key lost it

Well, it isn't their fault. WIT and the anime board announced it as the last season. Then covid happened. So that f***ed up their schedule basically.

Eren is one of if not the best protagonist gone rogue ever written. He’s not just a simple villain, he is creating an opportunity for his allies and enemies to come together. They cannot defeat him without the help of the other. It it weren’t for him, the war would have proceeded and Paradis would have been euthanized, and there’s no guaranteeing Marley still wouldnt have crushed them anyway out of spite. He was a cornered rat with no other course of action. Everyone is upset with what he’s doing, but they’re just mad he’s winning because he wanted it more. In a way, he is STILL the hero.

So many stories try to do this but it just isn’t as convincing as here.

I thought this too but instantly wondered if I was just copping a plea for the plot.

It can be both. If this was a Marvel movie Dr. Strange woulda did this

The only thing I can fault Eren for is not speaking at the Marley Eldian intervention. It’s easy to say he was wrong for that, but it’s hard to blame him for all of the suffering he’s endured by the orders of Marley. What matters most is if he’s motivated by his hatred for them, or the suffering of him and his friends and family, since those are two very different motives

    Read chapter 131 today......
Gonna post my thoughts under spoilers cause you never know.
chapter was amazing, there were quite a few jaw dropping moments and a very emotional moment in particular for me. Chapter starts with the immigrant boy and his friend, ramzi and halil, that we saw in episode 87, and while i know he was in chapter 123 in the manga, i liked that i saw him back to back, from 2 different point of views and time. He got one hand chopped off, which is of course terrible and tells us that since that day with our boys he still had to go do his job and steal from marleyans to guarantee a future to his people at the cost of his life, obviously reminiscent of eren although in a smaller scale, since the situation is getting dire for them, but isayama being the a\*\*\*\*\*\* that he is quickly transitions to a splash page of the colossal titans slowly approaching and the chaos it ensued.
Iloved the crow imagery reminiscent of the grisha scene in episode 79, symbolizing the incoming death at the hands of eren and in ep 79 grisha. Isayama's paneling is amazing, def one of his strengths, along with character expressions, both shining throughout the entire chapter.
FINALLY i get confirmation that eren has seen a lot of his future when he kissed Historia's hand, something that while being given many clues about still needed a flat out confirmation, and i especially loved to finally read eren's thoughts. We always saw him looking lost in thought and in general with a saddened expression, and now i know the reason: he's been interacting with people he's going to annihilate, and he knows that its bound to happen and that he himself will cause it. Isayama is particularly precise drawing eren's expressions, and it adds a big layer to the emotional weight this scene carries. He ponders on the future he saw, is he right in what he'll do, is he actually going to willingly do it, is there a way to change the future, but as we know now all the answers to those questions are a resound no, and that makes this scene that more tragic, culminating with his breakdown in front of ramzi, finally being able to found someone who he can let out his feelings to, and i teared up right here. Its so sad that despite doing it willingly in the future eren still doesnt feel that he'll do the right thing, even though he's been telling us that it was, meaning that he's been lying to himself for all this time to convince himself, either because its a future he cant change, because he values freedom and his friends, or both (this will eventually be the answer at the end of the chapter). But eren's breakdown happens as we see alternating panels of him crying his heart out and the disaster of the rumbling, finally showing me the actual threat it is.
I loved how isayama tries to put in these panels different people having different, but real, reactions, ranging from delusional running despite there being nowhere to run off to, parents hugging their children, people hiding, people being unable to do anything, etc (I also appreciated isayama showing that even mountains and hills arent safe). The scene with ramzi and halil reaching for the money that would've brought them possibly a future followed by their brutal death was so graphic and detailed, truly horrible s\*\*\*.
Finally i got the context for the Freedom spread, but i didnt think it was this f\*\*\*ed. The juxtaposition between the horrible rumbling and the innocent eren makes it even worse; eren is finally the most free, but what was the cost. What he wanted so bad, so much as to sacrifice the whole world, was this what armin, and deep down, eren himself wanted? Even eren admits that the world he dreamt of as a kid wasnt as peaceful as he thought, and it wasnt as cruel and evil as he saw in his father's memories, in his dreams after the war in shiganshina.
As he looks towards armin, he doesnt find his friend smiling like him at that vista, he sees a man with a sad, almost disappoinnted glare and blood all over him, and we transition then to armin and annie, who finally can have a real conversation, which while being cute and intimate, i know many were waiting for this lol, is also important for making a parallel between what eren said in the previous pages about the world he imagined and what armin says here, and to outline the person armin is now. Hes not a good boy, hes not the idealistic innocent weak kid anymore. Hes a man who killed countless people all for a dream that he still wanted to believe in but knew it wasnt attainable. Armin in the end reached this conclusion, eren didnt, or maybe couldnt. Chapter closes with a depressing look at the real eren hidden inside the monster, with his eyes closed, maybe dreaming that sequence of his child self, trying to find solace and quiet in the storm.

Now that i think about it i havent talked too much about why we see child eren and his interaction with adult armin, but im not one to theorize so ill wait for the answer in the upcoming days and if i dont get one ill make my own interpretation.

    132 - Wings of Freedom
great chapter overall, not as good as 131 but 130 and 131 were all pretty f\*\*\*ing heavy and rich so in a sense it was needed, although there are quite some powerful moments here as well.
As we transitioned from eren's twisted pov to armin's, now we're following the cringevengers. The people of marley got all alerted quickly, in the span of a few hours even the southern parts of the countries have swiftly evacuated the cities, wonder where they could even go tbh. Azumabito has been a good supportive character at the end of the day; yeah she's kind of a snake and acted mostly for her interests, but when s\*\*\* hit the fan she still on our character's side. Guess getting to know these devils can really change one's perspective.
I found interesting armin's choice to keep the explosives just in case, on the outside he may seem reluctant to kill eren, but maybe deep down he came to that conclusion.
Falco woke up to some bad bad news, and his reaction is most human, and one we've really never seen from him. He always tried to keep himself collected for gabi's sake, but now he's the one giving in to the emotions and gabi the one watching over him, good moment for them, and pieck unfortunately cannot give falco the reassurance hes craving for. Love how these 2 scenes both end with the smart ones (armin, pieck) not having a clue about what to do still, brings home the confusion and utter helplessness they're feeling right now, but they got to advance.
Annie is getting some very interesting development in these chapters, thank god isayama didnt leave her as a stoic, cold, but badass character. I loved reading her perspective: she rightly says that even if the rumbling stopped at Marley, they werent the only country with a deep hate for them; they actually were the most tolerant, because of their need for the eldians. Something along these lines was said by udo earlier in the story, rest of the world treats eldians even worse than marley because eldians were also used as weapons against them up until very recently. But the real reason she cant bring herself to fight is because her life has been full of conflict, bloodshed and death; knowing this could very well be one of her last moments alive she wants to finally live in peace, after founding someone who cares for her legitimately outside of her father in armin. Liked how mikasa was quick to pick up on it, she's quite similar to annie in that aspect.
While armin is deep down willing to kill eren, mikasa is still not giving up on taking things out, she still believes that eren has in him the same beauty that trumped over the cruelty of the world that she saw in him when he saved her. But mikasa has thought about eren recently, about her perception of him, and how it may not be completely true or at least not flawed. She still has the scarf, but she's not wearing it yet. I hope she confronts eren at this point and maybe even kill him herself, she needs it. Also vol 33 cover has her standing in a cool pose staring down at monster eren so maybe it will happen.
Finally we get to see eren's plan being thought out, but i did notice as yelena was explaining to eren their conditions of victory, eren had a angry, determined look, which she had noticed, just as she was telling him that defeating the world alliance on the northern coast with the shiganshina wall titans was enough to give them 10 years at least, which is also a confirmation i at least was fiending for for a long time. I guess 10 years werent enough for eren. She then offers him another possibile target, and this time eren's expression is more lost in thought. Also the fact its called fort salta and its a flying boat research facility is f\*\*\*ing stupid lmfaooo.
Yelena still convinced zeke's plan was the right one and while it is better than eren's, and eren himself thought it was, it still is a cruel s\*\*\*ty plan so that still doesnt sit right with me, but the situation in aot world is so f\*\*\*ing difficult to find a solution satisfying to all parties, so really there isnt a morally right plan here, which is f\*\*\*ing depressing.
Bitch ass flock didnt die of course, but the volume kinda spoiled it for me because he wasnt listed as dead lmfao. Kinda unnecessary appearance though, he only delays for a bit the lift off and has that talk about needing that devil to save the island, which we already had deduced was the main motivation of his character before this moment. But yeah, he dead now he cant ruin s\*\*\* anymore.
And speaking of ruining things, we get to the best part of this chapter: the rumbling has reached our heroes too, with some even slipping down the mountains LOL isayama loves to make the most tragic and horrifying events look stupid. Hange's sacrifice got me tearing up again, they're the survey corps captain, filled with regret, guilt, lack of agency, so them finding the moment they would've acted as a true commander was amazing, but it didnt have to be like this :jordancry:
Leaving Armin as the next commander, giving a last goodbye to a almost crippled levi and the rest of the group, with levi saying, maybe for the last time in the series with a positive note, shinzou wo sasageyo made me cry so much, and their sacrifice was the only way someone like hange could die: doing what they loved most.
Last part of this chapter was emotional, finally uniting with their comrades after living a life almost in service of them, they finally found peace. They all waiting for levi now, but they gon have to wait a long time hes a ackermann :jordamused:

Btw hange's death was the one thing i got spoiled itt accidentally
Didnt hurt the experience though at least!

    133 - Sinners
Amazing chapter damn, though it was going on forever too i was like am i accidentally reading 134 too??? :cudifly:
Our heroes looking grim, even my man levi is devastated, hange was truly the heart of the survey corp, they always lightened the situation up with their shining personality, already miss them :tears:
also reiner making that same pose he had at the beginning of final season in the blimp with zeke, found it a nice touch. Onyankopon really cared for hange, they were always together so its obvious it hurt him too, and now hes among the many who've given their full trust to armin. He does look determined now, hope our boy can be proud of himself when its all done, because the only one needing convincing is him.
Finally they're talking about how to actually approach eren, and it doesnt seem easy, unless hes completely eliminated, but none of them really want to go that far, they still believe they can get him back. Levi proposes a different plan entirely that honestly could work, we havent heard from zeke in a long ass time but he was absorbed into the founder, but maybe since ymir went along with eren's plan he isnt even needed anymore. Still, our characters dont know that and levi is definitely proposing him for personal reasons lol.

Loved mikasa and armin's expressions in this chapter, in general mikasa has been portrayed stunningly in this part of the manga. The discussion segues into the main point of the chapter, the sinners, confessing their sins, and looking for judgement, something we've seen before with reiner and eren. There's really nothing new for the reader, but the characters need to lay out their faults themselves to accept their fallibilty, regardless of a possible redemption, because only like this a positive change can happen. Understanding others can only come after understanding oneselves, and both connie and jean are able to do just that, understand reiner, coming to the same conclusion eren did. Now they dont seek redemption, or pity. They seek to save the world to find something worthy in themselves, to find the beauty in the cruelty.
Reiner wonders about what eren must be feeling right now, and i loved how eren's "we're the same" iconic line gave reiner a hint or two. Since they're the same, eren must be doing what reiner would've in his place, so either lending someone else full control not to witness the tragedy they've inflicted or if not possible, wish for death, which is also what reiner has gone through.
The transition to paths was once again done stupendly, the twist amplified by the turn page. Isayama has made them effortless and in a way feel animated. The moment of truth has come, the one on one with eren might have finally come, armin can finally talk down eren, but perfectly in line with isayama's writing, this possibility is flat out denied by eren himself. And thus isayama once again f\*\*\*s with the reader giving them the expectation for who knows how long but then disregarding it like trash. I loved so much how shonen the scene felt, all our characters confessing their sins, looking for judgement and in a sort of naruto to sasuke way trying to convince him to come back, only for eren to literally reply with a all resounding NO.
Eren delivers a great speech imo, and shows also his complexity as a character. He's getting his freedom by taking the other's, like hes always believed, but he's not taking the one of his friends, he actually gave them true, ultimate freedom, and ironically its what, based also on eren's portrayal in this chapter, he will at this point never reach. But he's also let his previous enemies free, which also means he wants to die, he wants to be judged, he wants to be free from his shackles, he outright says so.
He tells them the only way to stop the rumbling is by killing him. Its a cry for help. And maybe the reason we see kid eren in paths with the barred eyes, is because the one taking control is kid eren. Reiner said that he would've let someone else take control if he was making such a hard decision, and i feel eren is doing this exact thing putting his younger, innocent self in charge, since he doesnt see the tragedy of the rumbling, only the apparent freedom it brought, and the reason hes presented like ymir is because right now he's enslaved to fate and the deep desire of freedom.
What i dont get is ymir having her eyes also barred out. She should be free right now, we saw her clear eyes, but maybe that isnt the case yet. Wont make theories, but its intruiging, she's been acting weird twice now, there's definitely more to her.
The "you're free." echoing multiple times in this part of the chapter was emotional, he cares about them to the point he'll give them what he always wanted but will never have, but its also sad because this freedom he gave them will be his downfall, which is beautifully ironic.
Armin once again struck by reality, hate it for him, what will he do now? Levi is asking the same question...
The sequence at the boat is great, once again the topic of sin comes up, i loved kiyomi's confession and lament, it reaches annie too. She cant be pardoned for what she's done, and wishes she could have had empathy, understanding, and love before she realized she's lost those sentiments. But time in aot is linear and determined, whats happened cant be change, and one has to live with their choices, and try to live with as few regrets as possible, reminiscent of lev's words to eren in female titan arc. I adored annie's moment as kiyomi is talking of the feeling she's lost, one of empathy and love, as annie is remembering the times she was getting love and respect but couldnt reciprocate because it was an emotion she couldnt understand, and the look in her eyes, god isayama never misses with eye shots.
He also never misses with random out of nowhere entrances of characters about to give important revelations. Falco confirms us and himself that his titan form shares some of zeke's line thanks to a dream hes had of zeke's memories and theory crafting with annie's own experiences. This scene actually reveals a lot about how titans work, specifically how the beast titan can take any form, depending on the user, how titans can share some powers with others and how in particular the female titan has more affinity with them. Isayama giving us important info at the most random moment per usual.
I think zeke's memories come from the future, maybe since hes in the founding he can use the attack titan powers too or eren/ymir decided to show falco those, but regardless falco thinks he can reach those heights too and wants to give it a try, gambling the entire crew's life, and since they have nothing to lose and no more regrets they want to have, they will try.
Chapter closes with a surprise: liberio in some capacity survived thanks to annie's dad, fitting since his philosophy is survival above all, and the plan is to flee using the blimps in fort salta. But little did they know it was eren's target as well, and apparently marley's army too, and im happy that the world is not ready to give up just yet and going for a final, aerial attack, just like what our characters have planned.
It doesnt make sense at a surface level because at carifa there should've been the actual best weapons available to the world, but this is a research centre, so maybe there are weapons that arent safe and fully developed yet they're willing to use, maybe even nukes.
Dont know what will happen, but im almost at the end of vol 33 and im so hyped for whats next, i loved this volume so much :letsfuckinggo:

Forgot to mention, but its funny how general calvi wished for flying titans to exist, and look at where we are now. Isayama you're an a\*\*\*\*\*\* lmao
