I hate hearing regular vocals
Something like Adele does nothing to me
I want you to experiment with your vocals it should be an instrument
Ladies and Gentlemen, the instrument
most 2010s R&B acts can’t sing very well
Daniel Caesar is one that does this “alternative R&B” thing while also being a great vocalist
Ladies and Gentlemen, the instrument
I was just saying cause not everyone can sing and you should use that as your advantage not as an error
You named an icon, ofc he will stand out
That being said
If I Should Die Tonight probably in my top 100 songs of all time hypothetical list
You got a few heavy hitters in this era.
You lowkey can tell by a singer's rap genius interview who really got pipes.

The real answer is none of these niggas go to church anymore, so that's why they can't sing fr
breaking: normies discover that raw acapella vocals don't sound good
non artists are so dumb!
it's only like 6-7 singers in the industry that can get off with first-second takes with little polish needed.
Glasper talked about working with Lalah Hathaway for "Cherish The Day" and that on day of recording she went in to just practice it and didn't even know they was recording.
Ended up using that take for the song.
Your favorite singer can't really do that.
Lalah Hathaway gonna have people forever shook off stories like that and performances like this:
She’s never been a phenomenal vocalist, but she makes it work for the type of music she makes
she sings pretty good live. when recording vocals sometimes artist will intentionally sing it a certain way to achieve a certain sound based on the effects and plugins they're running. for example, if you sing too perfect while using autotune it sounds different versus singing slightly pitchy here and there because the autotune kicks in and adds an interesting layer
they only sound good when the singer can actually sing

This doesn't even sound like lead vocals lol sounds like backing tracks stacks and adlibs etc. Idk but they're not lead vocals that are meant to display her ability. I think this is a bad example to use if they trying to say she can't sing
Supermodel isn't even a vocally demanding song bruh lmao that's so easy to sing I doubt she's THAT bad that she needed that much altering for it
