I love weird box office runs

This one is pretty difficult to predict. It’s been running about $20 million behind Rogue One, but it has a slightly better hold in its second weekend despite having the storm to compete with. It could continue to perform like Rogue One and end in the $500 million range. Or it could perform like the first Avatar and end as high as $950 million. Adjusting for additional front load, but with a similar trajectory to Avatar, puts it ending up at $750 million.

I think it’s got a good shot at beating Top Gun to end up at number one for the year domestic. Really the 4th weekend will give us a better idea of how it’s gonna hold, since there won’t be any holidays too throw it off.

I’ll admit I was one of the people who ignored it while it was airing. I’m glad he got to finish the story and it didn’t get cancelled. Shame it’s so underrated
