Movie was a solid blockbuster. Definitely felt like this was the first movie in the franchise while the actual first one was like an extended prologue. Some complaints I have about the film:
These are just some nitpicks I had. I still liked it tho and think they did a really good job at making the kids likable and giving each a distinct personality. I look forward to where they go next although you can already see the seeds they’re planting making Spider’s father turn to a good guy
Better than the first for sure btw
Decided last minute to check this out in IMAX
The good: Gorgeous visuals and well-directed action scenes (Neytiri was too nice with the arrows
). It was cool to see all of these things in a non-superhero movie for once
I don't have many complaints except that certain parts could've been shorter like the youngest son befriending the tulkun and it felt like Jake and Neytiri got sidelined in favour of showing more of the kids. Even Miles felt like a more compelling character than Jake until the end.
Honestly a very entertaining movie. Even after 13 years, s*** just proves never bet against James Cameron. I have a lot of respect for how clearly this movie is his vision.
Damn wtf this is damn near 1080p
My brother brought up a good point
If they got the technology to store memories and make a genetic clone of people, why the f*** do they need that whale serum that stops people from aging
And why was it only used on like 5 soldiers who didn’t do their job right, why not get more capable hunters then the mfs that died the first time.
I get it was an excuse to bring back Stephen Lang but honestly saying he had a twin brother would’ve been less convoluted
And if they had that tech they could’ve just used it on Jake’s brother memories from the get go instead of having to bring Jake in. They used it on Quadrich before he died so timeline wise they’d have that tech back in the first film
One thing I didn’t understand though. Earth was dying right? Why was getting that age stopping serum a priority then?
That’s one of my questions. In the first film they were going for the unobtainable for an energy source for earth. In this one they abandoned that for de-aging serum and helping Quaridch get his revenge on Jake
Also it took them 14 or so years to go after na’vi again. Is Earth just dead at this point?
eh I didn't like this
same generic story as the first one more or less, just with beaches instead of a forest
no stakes in whether the villain dies or lives cause they can just reclone him anyways
how many times did they have to use the "kids going where they were told not to" trope to advance the story
also found the 3d effects pretty underwhelming. thirteen years of advancing technology but the first film used 3d better imo
the dialogue was very bad
some parts I liked and the three hours went by fairly quickly, but this was pretty disappointing and not sure I'd watch the third one
lol you got banned for this take huh
Must have been...I get they weren't the focus, but did not like the entire army just disappearing...also thought talking to the whales without connecting to them with the braids/internet connection was another confusing thing...I guess since they Said they were smarter then everyone the Na'vi could just have conversations with them?
nigga said it's so painful.
the funniest moment in the movie
Watched it in Dolby Cinema 3D. This post is not sponsored.

Kiri is my favorite movie character this decade. She's like her mother, a natural scientist just fascinated by everything and just observing for hours to the point where people make fun of her. I can relate to that so much. I love the way Cameron decided to show what an aura feels like before a seizure by having the world around her vibrate, there are so many interesting testimonies of how people experience auras, and how people used to believe that they were divine visions. But, I can also see why she would be the manifestation of Eywa after Dr Grace's soul got assimilated into that tree in the last movie.
I don't think I would have enjoyed this movie half as much if it wasn't for Kiri's mysterious storyline, the rest of the movie was more or less predictable and personally, as a sky person myself, I think Jake should have to pay for betraying his own men and mother planet for his own family because all those people he killed had families, too. So what justifies him killing all of them to save his own, especially when Earth is dying? The human beings in Avatar traveling light years to desperately save humanity are no different from Cooper in Interstellar trying to find a viable planet for humanity. I just wish it wasn't so black-or-white sometimes painting modern humans in such a bad light and romanticizing primitive cultures bc I breathed a sigh of relief when human doctors in their avatars came to take care of Kiri's episode. I think everybody thinks they're the good guy until you put things into perspective and while James Cameron was trying to allude to that, he dropped the ball most of the time or maybe the movie would have been too long for a "both sides" argument. But that's just my little take. I liked the movie and I'm looking forward to the next one especially if James Cameron decides to explore Spider's Anakin/Tarzan story arc in the next one. Spider has so much potential to turn or bring good to both worlds. Anyway.
this post absolutely stinks

this sums up my anger for this movie. ppl keep talking about world building but this movie did absolutely nothing to build the world up imo. left us with more questions than answers about Pandora and the Humans.
