Russo Brothers, who've directed 4 critically acclaimed successes, returning to the franchise who still put out two well received movies this year, and people are acting like it's automatically some Mark Whalberg straight to streaming action movie. Insane.

I think the hesitancy is based on what they’ve done outside of Marvel and some of the comments Joe in particular has made before coming back. Understandable to be a little worried, but personally I won’t totally write these movies off until we see something from them. We have seen literally nothing from Doomsday and people are still already calling for it to flop.

But man, all of this multiverse s*** really robs us of authentic introductions into the MCU

There's no introduction more authentic than getting shoved into a random issue super far in before circling back

The first officially announced cast member of Secret Wars before we even have a Doomsday trailer is an unrevealed supporting character from Brand New Day? And we don’t have a Brand New Day trailer either?

If she really is Jean that’s not just good casting, it’s a deep understanding of what X-Men should be to the zeitgeist on a meta level, ie a Stranger Things/Harry Potter level generational event - two properties that get some of their swag and mythos from the X-Men comics in the first place, ironically moreso than the X-Men films ever cared to pick up on

Speaking of X-Men, don’t give it some lame ass colon subtitle like First Steps or The First Avenger, ideally a similar approach to the new Superman. Obviously not just “X-Men” but something that says BOOM and stands on its own

They’ll probably go “The X-Men” or “The Astonishing X-Men” but the second one might be a tad too wordy for a blockbuster film

I mean we just got "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" so anything is game lmao
