I do have a general question not just specifically for here: Would the general sense to not total rejection but more of a negative outlook of this movie be not as strong if this wasn’t coming out the same day as Dune?

I think it wouldn’t be as strong imo

Dune gives film twitter someone to root for against it, if it was just Jumanji the same day they would ignore it

I think people complaining about the lineup forget that the avengers/X-men are supposed to lose this battle. They shouldn’t be at full strength.

Haven't even thought about dune in relation to this movie other than IMAX exclusivity

It wouldn’t be as strong for sure but it’s not in a vacuum, like anything else could be in place of something that makes MCU haters bussy quiver besides Dune and it would have the same effect

The real culprit for this precedent is Marvel stupidly revealing that RDJ was Doom instead of letting it be an in-theater experience reveal

We’d be talking about this movie completely differently if you change that one thing, even considering the lack of goodwill post phase 4

When it comes out that Feige & Co. were playing 3D chess for all of Phases 4 and 5 to purposefully devalue the strength of the new lineup of new heroes by making all of their projects trash so that way by the time the next Avengers movie rolled around it would be more believable that they would lose to the villain

On the flipside of that, this movie would have A LOT less anticipation and hype around it if RDJ wasn't announced to be starring in it as Doom

I wouldnt say that, but it gives them a good excuse to run this story line with this lineup to reset some things.

I see it like NWH, yeah this is a possibility but in the likelihood that it would’ve been leaked/rumored, we would’ve had Andrew and Tobey on steroids

That type of hype is way more palpable and lends to an open mind more so than if Sony revealed Andrew and Tobey from day one, having em on stage and such

Not trying to absolve Marvel for some of the BS they've released recently. They likely just see this as a good chance to reboot the universe and bring back some heros and villians that they wish they could have back. More so now that they have rights to the Xmen.

Its going to be hard though moving forward cause current MCU is just cashing out on the nostalgia fest to stay alive.
