I’m a big F4 fan so I liked the movie but it did feel like a sequel that expected general audiences to already be familiar with the team. Which I get they’ve done the origin story a few times but doesn’t mean we should skip getting to know this iteration

Take Brand New Day. That movie was pretty easy to get tickets for as well when they went on sale a few weeks ago. Dune and Odyssey were both a nightmare to secure tickets for. But Brand New Day is on pace to double the opening weekend box office of The Odyssey.

The main reason for why Dune/Odyssey were so hard to get tickets for initially is because of the exclusivity of the IMAX format. With Doomsday and Brand New Day, there’s not that same exclusivity, so it’s a lot easier to cop opening weekend tickets

That’s probably a factor as well, but I think it’s mostly just the difference in IMAX focused vs. non-IMAX focused films
