https://twitter.com/ovovenger/status/2079269753630163375At least 50% of the hype is because it’s the debut of Marvel’s greatest villain and arguably one of the greatest comic book villains ever period. On top of that, the anchor of the franchise is coming out of retirement to play said villain (the performance will be phenomenal). I personally want to see how RDJ is handled as Doom. I promise you Kang Dynasty would not be doing these numbers
None of this speaks to the quality of the film. The trailer was okay, not outstanding or anything. Some of these shots where they try to fit all the heroes in one screen looks unintentionally hilarious. Bringing back Steve Rogers looks desperate. Bringing back RDJ was desperate. More Fox-men nostalgia bait, which they’ve been using as a crutch for years now. That avengers line up is laughable (maybe this is a plot point?). There’s been no build up to this film, and Marvel’s track record over the last few years is questionable. Kinda seems like they’re throwing all the s*** at the wall so they can limp into secret wars for the reboot. Hopefully Feige hangs it up and passes the torch by then!
Maybe this ends up a good film? I doubt it, but if it happens it’s because RDJ carried
