this has nothing to do with his response to the recent protests

“I told him, "Please don't die over the neighborhood
    That your mama rentin'
Take your d*** money and buy the neighborhood
That's how you rinse it"- JAY Z from “The Story of O.J.”

Nd the nigga didn’t even buy or invest in his own s***

don’t get me wrong, I understand you have to change the mentality of the people that live in the neighborhood but damn, he doesn’t want to invest just because of that?

Jay Z is a businessman before anything else, Idk why people think he’s some sort of black messiah or prophet like essence with unfathomable knowledge

He’s just another hustler turned billionaire that hustles/exploits the very foundation his PR team has fabricated & brainwashed us all to to think he cares about

Remember, people become billionaires through exploiting the system, Shawn Carter is no different

Edit: I don’t think the video in OP is a good representation of your point but I get it what you mean

Hov was uninformed on this, sure projects were meant to be a foundation before you get somewhere better but the fact of the matter is many minorities were not allowed to even live in better housing because of de jure segregation, zoning laws and institutional racism.

It’s not as simple as people wanted to stay and ‘rep their hood’, once people were denied any social upward mobility they had no choice but to stay in the projects which were severely neglected by government as opposed to white neighbourhoods.

  • Hov always been out for himself

Putting all ur hopes in this man is stupid

It's actually sad that such a big figure in hip hop is misinformed on this subject because of iirc the neglected state if New York neighborhoods (buildings falling apart, fires etc) were essential to the birth of hip hop

    Exactly, essentially people grow
up in these neighbourhoods not really knowing that them or their generations were denied any opportunity to ever really get out

  • Gentrify your own hood, before these people do it
Claim eminent domain and have your people movin’
That’s a small glimpse into what Nipsey was doing
For anybody that’s still confused as to what he was doing
The neighborhood is designed to keep us trapped
They red line us, so property declines if you live by blacks
They depress the asset and take the property back
It’s a ruthless but a genius plan in fact
So now we fighting over scraps
Crabs in a barrel, but crabs don’t belong in the barrel and they ain’t never tell us that
So in the barrel, we gonna act like we act
We can easily get out the barrel if we stand on each other’s back
Whoever gets on top, as long as they stay attached
They gonna pull everybody out—I was doing just that

This was just last year my g.

  • People give him s*** for that Barclays thing that he owned a percentage of a percentage of a percentage of because it displaced a lot of niggas.

But people never seem to mention that them Russians were already developing that big ass center, it aint like Hov could've stopped it lol.

this is also why he never speaks about s*** he's doing, it'll be a few years at most until we see what investments he has been putting into the neighborhoods just cause he never talks, but just does. Which is MORE than I can say for a lot of twitter finger ass niggas (coughnonamecough)

I think it wasn’t meant for everyone. He was saying like “if you gonna join a gang over the hood that your mom reps, if you wanna get back, do your work, and buy the block, that’s how you really get back.”

As far I know, Hov never was gang afflicted, even though he was a d*** dealer. So the circumstance probably doesn’t apply to him directly
