No, concepts are great but the point being made is a lot of the people who critique black art (which are mostly white people) think if your album doesn't have a concept or speak to some bigger societal cause/issue or isn't ''weird'' or ''different'' or basically anti-mainstream, then it isn't great or even good art.

That's the box they create and they leave out any black artist who isn't making s*** that fits into that box out of it and automatically regard their work as less than.

I still remember how from like 2014 to like 2016, if you so much as had a bar about racism on your album, your album got a ton of critical acclaim and it isn't just in music. We can talk about movies and how the Oscars mostly give out awards to black movies that speak on racism or are about slavery/the struggle. It's the same concept.
