SignedTwiceThat method of promo is outdated imo, the hype for this album is fine. It just has to be great and it’ll catch on, enough people are aware of it. It worked for Clipse cause it fit their audience.

I’m positive Kendrick didn’t want to do all the interviews and make all the appearances he did when he was trying to blow up. But that’s what you need to do when you’re new, partially just to get the outlets on board with you when you drop. Keems moving like the association with Kendrick is enough promo and I think that’s probably a mistake
Homie hasn’t even dropped/worked a single or done any features in years

I feel like with Melodic Blue he was doing whatever weirder more mid-tempo s*** he wanted to do but wasn’t really chasing a pop smash, and the Kendrick records did the best of course
But I feel like he could make an Orange Soda any time he wants, his hook writing ability is there

As for the rest I personally find all that s*** cringe but it probably works for that demographic, I’m just slightly older than that age group
I think the Docs are a good way of doing promo and actually gets you into the mindset he’s coming with this album, it accomplishes more in terms of his message than going on a stream

He's definitely a hit maker. Unless this album is a drastic departure than TMB and DFMB I dont see why a single wouldn't worked. The Kendrick already sounds like its gearing in that direction

This doesn't really work that well anymore. Nobody clicks on random interviews to find new artists. Everything is niche and there's no central outlet anymore. Even on JBP they lock interviews behind a paywall for a week or more and if you're not paying u probably won't go back to it after they finally drop it on YT for free. JID did the whole shabang during his rollout and I doubt it really did that much in terms of gaining new audience. His clips talking about how Cole handled the battle were the ones that came close to going viral. Maybe keem doesn't want to talk about that cause it's definitely gonna come up. I think we should just see what pglang has planned and have some faith in Dave Free.

that comparison is so out of touch is hilarious. keem already had the success of the melodic blue (not to mention the kendrick connection) the eyes and ears are already there. at the time of ABNH, doechii was not known in a mainstream sense at all (not to mention she is a black woman without a superstar family connection) so in terms of getting a shot to enter the american mainstream, she needed a whole different push compared to keem
my take on why they aren’t dropping any songs on streaming before release is to get people to listen to the whole record as is. clearly there’s a story being told and it starts with the documentary and hopefully it will make sense when the record drops on friday
