I want to try this but I know there's a very good chance I will hate it because I'm not very familiar and didn't grow up playing these type of games. Same with Elden Ring. Wanted to try it but held off because I'm not very familiar

Game just got review bombed like a motherfucker.

100% guarantee this is because of that Reddit thread about data mining the game.

Data mining s*** is always so stupid because it’s a bunch of people making assumptions and throwing together wild theories with absolutely 0 context or understanding as to why s*** was cut in the first place.

Look at f***ing Dark Souls. Game is still a classic though, and Larian at least is known for releasing definitive editions of their game.

I snuck up behind an ogre, did a sneak attack and missed

  • Aug 23, 2023

I don’t see that being changed outside of mods. I’m sure these are concessions that Larian had to make in order to use the license (the version of D&D this uses, 5e, is apparently a little polarizing within the fanbase).

As someone who’s an avid X-COM fan, I’m sure it’s not quite as brutal as that game can be.

God, I hope people aren’t dumb enough to look at that cut content s*** and think every single thing on there was intended to make it into the final game, and thus HAS to be in a definitive edition.

Youre wrong but I see your point

Meat shields are one awful design choice.

This type of system also allows them to use lower enemy levels. In act 3 you will fight nonstop enemies of various earlier levels becuse the systems are build on it.

To me that enhances roleplaying alot. In divinity OS2 a game where all enemies became spunges it just did not make sense to me that every normal fodder enemy was also lv 18-20 by the end of the game just because it was the last act.

In dnd certain monsters like the Beholder have a set level and difficulty. Similar to certain bosses and enemies. The steel watch is a fix level 11 for example. To me that not just enhances the immersion but it also allows you to beat enemies of a higher level fairly

we couldn't even get to level 12 in EA, so its fine to think that the game and enemy loadouts are not waterproof up to that level. on day 1 we are playing the worst version of bg3 even if that version is still amazing.

im not a fan of meat shields, but i would rather hit a meat shield consistently with my abilities than whiff and not have any additional effects hit. in this game with the whole slots, and long rest/short rest cooldowns, whiffing a 95% and then losing your turn and losing the spell for the rest of the battle/day is not fun nor good design. especially exasperated in a turn based system with enemy counts often doubling or tripling your own party.

all they need to do is lower enemy AC in some scenarios so you hit more often. then raise their hp slightly to compensate if they need to for certain enemies. even 1 point AC reduction would do a lot to make some battles not seem like a slog when you miss.

They really think they did something here but its just painfully obvious that Larian could not win for this twitter user

They say the love the game but the obvious portrayal of fantasy racism is ā€žtoo much for themā€œ. I bet you if the game ignored the aspect of racism completely the same twitter user would have an issue with the ā€žignorance of racismā€œ

This is a woke ass game that clearly wants you to help these refugee tieflings. Clearly Larian wanted this game to be political.
