Just saw this. Things I got out of it:
Feminism: not great. Everyone assumes the worst out of the nice guy. Everyone believes women but men (particularly white straight ones) are always assumed to be creeps. Multiple points where lives would have been saved if people just believed men. Funnily enough a woman ends up being the villain
Fund the police. If more units had been available from the jump a lot of this wouldn’t have happened. Also a lot of great commentary on the state of crime in liberal cities
Economic deregulation. Did you see how many hoops that guy had to jump through just to list his property for the value that it’s actually worth? We need to cut the red tape. I’m sure every house on that street would look as nice as that if there weren’t so many crippling regulations on landlords. This is emphasized by the Reagan shoutout
gentrification is a good thing
importance of the nuclear family
watching right now, im bricked up

lol Twitter gave a hint of that just didn't realize it was on max til just now
definitely thought it would be better. it was okay. And I think there are more responsible ways to deal with themes like child rape than making a film into a horror/comedy spectacle.
this a comedy?
i missed the child rape s*** wtf

same
that made you interested huh
nah I was bout to start the new GoT series and saw this instead
so far this is like what I expected Men to be without being as heavy handed but I am only 20 minutes in lol
I didn’t love Malignant either, but I was definitely more caught by surprise with the twist than I was with this movie. The big reveal left me a bit underwhelmed especially since the homeless dude said that the old lady isn’t even the worst thing in the basement, implying that there’s an even more f\*\*\*ed up creature down there. When it was established that it was just the helpless old dude, I kinda had a “whatever” reaction
he had women locked up in cages raping them and their offspring dog bro was raping babies and s\*\*\*
This movie such a satisfying blend of, like, Jordan Peele’s social commentary, and Ari Aster’s disturbing imagery. Easy comparison, but I feel like it’s not a stretch to assume the director/project took some inspiration from their recent work
Cregger said him and peele are good friends and would often grab dinner together and talk shop
