I’m trying to figure out what went wrong this season and I think it has something to do with stakes. Before this season, we know that Barry wants to escape his life of crime, and we know he doesn’t want to get caught. That’s what’s propelling us forward. When he got caught, it’s like the balloon deflated. They get him to a place where he wants to kill Gene, but they never really commit to revenge as a throughline for the season. His motivation to put all his love into Sally fizzles out. Then he escapes, and his motivation is primarily protecting his son, but that didn’t really feel developed enough.
Somewhere along the way this season, I just sort of stopped caring about the characters. It didn’t help that everyone was so isolated from one another. Especially everything involving NoHo Hank. It made things feel very cold and impersonal.
what if sally and john are in cleveland and she's delivering flowers to barry's grave

For sure one of my fav HBO shows, but I’m not quite sure I’d call that ending great or even good. Some great/interesting things def happened. Comparison is the thief of joy etc etc, but Succession finale (season as well) is an all-timer. This was just solid. This season felt special pre-time skip for me.
Barry’s (Gene too tbh) actual ending was pretty fitting tho. I almost feel like a lot of what they were trying to accomplish could’ve been done without the time skip. Like yeah we get to see that even with time, most of these characters remain miserable, but that was a given lol. Also, Barry’s kid didn’t really feel like a real person/character til literally the final episode.

The point about the kid is so true, that was a big problem

And maybe that was by design. “Kids should be seen not heard” type s***, but idk just felt a little rushed/sloppy in execution to me personally.
Exactly this . I get he went through a lot and they don’t want audience to root for him too much but for 3 seasons he still felt human while the most outlandish s*** happened . This one just didn’t feel human
straight tunnel vision the whole season & they didn’t really do the job of making you feel the connection to his son, like who’s cares
this show for 3 seasons squeezes the absolute most out of like 35-ish min run times, it was insanely impressive what they did, but for the ambition of this season there needed to be more time, some more episode’s focused on individual characters besides Barry
hilarious, incredible ending
although lowkey wish they had just ended it when it cut to black after he got shot in the head
@ShintaroKago how you liked the ending?
that ending was not it at all
It sucks the last 5 mins of the show was that bs re-telling
I am 6 minutes in and I genuinely have no idea what is going on
Gene Couisenau is some how separate from Jim Moss even though he was just accused in the same room as him and with a police officer in the room. Am I remembering something wrong ? How is he now free watching TV
Sally feeling this guilty about killing a man that tried to kill her has me genuinely so confused and has all season. Was that feeling like it wasn't self defense ? Why have they acted like she a cold blooded murderer all season and she hates herself? I am not downplaying having to kill someone but I am a lil confused
jim moss storyline got rushed and f***ed. whole episode was a f***in mess.
like how the hell was he cool with barry just escaping.
JIM WENT FROM GREAT WRITING TO ONE OF THE DUMBEST CHARACTERS I HAVE SEEN ON TV IN RECENT MEMORY
IDK I am confused on how on the nose some things were like Fuches entirely telling No Ho Hank about himself and asking him to tell the truth about killing Cristobal again which again lead to Hank popping off. When technically the killing of no ho hank was out of his hands. Cristobal and the chechens were never really going to coexist
episode sucked man
