what the f*** are you talking about Sally couldn’t control that. She already told him IN THIS EPISODE that Barry is a murderer lol
Yes but she never told him gene is innocent and his dad wasn’t some pawn that was manipulated
No way you seen that kids eyes when he watched the movie and really think his son thinks his dad is a monster
Sally really did get the perfect ending in the sense of someone approached her and craved her she no longer needed their love. The only acceptance she needed or wanted was that of her son. To be validated by him saying it was good rather than some random man who wanted to f*** her or date her. She finally smiled again
He finally became a respected leader and started a family.
that’s right his little spiel, he like feels himself finally, just feel like his character lost the significance to the story, it had to a degree
Yeah, Moss being dumbed down seemed pretty contrived to me.
The ending was just fine. Don't love it or hate it, but definitely think it could've been considerably better (really applies to most of S4 imo).
felt rushed as f*** tbh. just plainly ok
She told him about Barry’s past, the movie is about how it all ended, gene getting life in prison and the world thinking your dad is hero is going to make him seem like a hero
I am so confused by this post.
you think him seeing the movie overwrites the dead bodies he saw, the truth he saw and Sally telling him the truth?
My take away from the end ( I could be wrong) is the son is glad the public knows a lie vs the truth. because if they knew the truth he would forever be judged. he has trauma but glad his dad known as a hero
But I think his son knows the truth
I mean, it’s a happy ending from the point of view of the title character, but I got mad at the final scene, I don’t know if that was the intention of the finale, but i guess that is more akin to real life like putting innocents in jail and tarnishing their legacy (similar to a plot point on BCS)

please don't make me agree with maidenless deadpeg
dont make my year that dark

HIS SON IS A DUMBASS
SALLY PROBABLY DRANK DURING THAT PREGNANCY

Yes, his dad didn’t kill any of those dudes, his dad was outside looking like the savior to him
What was the point of Sally seeing things? Sally kill was self defense so that whole Sally seeing things arc was wildly unnecessary to me
Sally just letting Barry’s narrative be so positive in his death is very on brand for her and how she just wants to be seen in a positive light constantly
Barry always wanted to be seen as a hero
Yes, his dad didn’t kill any of those dudes, his dad was outside looking like the savior to him
I guess I see it both ways
I wouldn't immediately think to see it your way. It can definitely be read a few different ways. He can see his dad as a hero or manipulated. Either way he knows his dad killed people. Whether he thinks that killing is wrong or not or that there are worse humans that held him captive gets muddled.
Barry was walking away with redemption either way
me either but I have seen many a friend do it lol
Too many people think the solution to a failing relationship is to add a kid to the mix smh
i think the final ten minutes are gonna piss off a lot of people but i lowkey loved it
very depressing ending but it didn't feel out of left field you know? to me anyway, it was a very good take on films like american sniper and the greatest showman that glorify awful people because it's a better story
feels very on brand for what barry has been trying to convey in it's critique of hollywood in the show
and even though gene had a seriously depressing ending, i am happy he did get a little vindication by being the dude to kill barry
Barry always wanted to be seen as a hero
and Sally always wanted acknowledgement for her accomplishments which she now gets from the son of Barry

my hot take is I don't think the ending was depressing
This series was also a very dark reflection of how easy it is to get guns in this country, loved how they sold Barry the weapons no matter how deranged he seemed

This got me rethinking my initial thoughts
