People have been saying this for literal decades about blockbuster action films lmao.
This you?

Nope stole it
You used the same change a few words strategy I used in classes
I saw like 9 smaller films in theaters in the last few months, they just didn’t make much money
9 movies is practically nothing though, when I went with my girl to see Spider-Man: NWH, you couldn't find another movie listed on the marquee.
I think it’s sad, I’m not gonna say it doesn’t make me feel empty.
But I don’t think there’s a flood in the canoe yet.
In a given year (mainly at the end of the year) there are still many incredible cinematic experiences you can be having. I’m still in awe of the creativity of man.
Is that going to become a more isolating and lonely experience? Are people going to forget what real emotion looks like?
Maybe.
But I hope they don’t forget about us.
I hope we get our slice.
DC will change the game again with The Batman soon
What about all the other DC films?
He isnt even really saying anything about marvel
Had to use the clickbait tbh
You used the same change a few words strategy I used in classes
Isn’t that what we all did
They like to blame Marvel and Superhero movies, but the truth is most movies these days are remakes or unnecessary sequels, and nowadays you can watch a ton of movies via streaming and it's cheaper & safer right now.

nah this is wrong. Mainstream blockbusters are either remakes, sequels or Superhero movies which are also often "remakes"/ 100th reiteration of that story. Problem is that people are way too obsessed with brands (Brands rather exist in a transcendent place over that medium. Superheroes are in a sense the modern equivalent of Greek or Egyptian gods. They are the saviors we are praying to in a world we cannot come to terms with.) and that it's more profitable and less risky to not care much about creativity. However, plenty of films which are not recycling the same films over and over again are made every year all around the world. They don't sell as well at all tho.

Lol as if Spiderman movies aren't reboots?
His argument is that people only go to watch these IP, reboots, sequels etc. There's no space for smaller films to do well cuz these theatres all have to sell these movies first. A film like Licorice Pizza, French Dispatch all get overlooked or don't even get as many time slots.

Or maybe they just fun to watch unlike most sequels and remakes

Yeah, but they are wanted at the end of the day.
I watched The French Dispatch and that s*** was boring. I feel like people are going to theaters for fun, not long boring films. Specially now that the world is a mess.
The issue is that film isn’t being made for the theater anymore. I stopped caring about going to the cinema because I had such a good experience at home anyways. But then we got IMAX. The issue with IMAX now is that they are ruining it by not having any real criterias for the IMAX stamp. If Christopher Nolan for e.g releases a movie I’ll no doubt go to the cinema but most movies today don’t handle movies as an art form. Therefore I don’t care to go to the cinema as much. Especially when they are released at home the same day. If more directors were like Nolan. Shooting with 70mm cameras etc I’d go to the cinema A LOT more. But making half assed movies won’t do the job. I’ll watch all the fast and furious movies that will be released for e.g but I’d never in my life go to the cinema to see them.
Marvel ruined cinema. You can like their movies all you want but that’s an undeniable fact.
Yeah, but they are wanted at the end of the day.

lol Wes Anderson movies are wanted, but because they are maybe art house they are overshadowed and don’t have the budget as IP movies to market them.
Theatres are good ways to introduce people to diff movies, that’s what it always has been. But yes I do agree that people only go to see big movies and don’t want to leave the house unless they really want to watch something

This would be tolerable if the cape s*** actually felt like it was made by human beings with a soul. Even the “art films” are basically a brand. A24 almost has their own in house style in a way despite the different voices they bring to the table. There’s nothing in the middle anymore. The fact we’re in a place now where populist filmmakers like Spielberg, Wright, and Del Toro are considered pretentious film bro stuff is insane.
Yeah, but they are wanted at the end of the day.

Wes Anderson edits his movies at a lightning fast speed and constantly throws bright nice colors and images in your face constantly to grab the ADHD brains attention. If that’s what’s considered “long and boring” now we’re doomed.
Idk what any of the marvel/snyder bros are going to say in this thread but I just know The Last Duel is a classic
Must be two Last Duels
Pretty sad when you think about it.
I really enjoy going to see all the award season movies in the cinema at the beginning of each year.
Seeing Minari, Judas & The Black Messiah, Nomadland and The Father in the cinema last year was great.
theatrical hollywood movies just gotta be better
The Last Duel was great.
But it’s hard when Disney are committed to spending millions in their Marvel movie marketing and pennies on others.
Nobody even knew The Last Duel was out, I was in a basically empty cinema on release day.
