Batman slander is aimed at the post-Frank Miller dark, brooding and borderline psychotic Batman that’s a glorified Police power fantasy. This is the Batman that most people have known for the last 30+ years in popular media. Frank Miller is known for depicting characters and themes that have suspiciously far-right power fantasy undertones, so if the modern public perception of Batman is based on a version he created…well you know the rest

We need a new type of Batman, and have needed a new type of Batman for a while. Seeing a dark and gritty Batman was cool, but it’s overstayed it’s welcome and turned a character who was a symbol of channeling trauma into positivity into someone who’s as troubling as the criminals he goes after
