Because it's from the 60s? The production is still really good don't get me wrong, but they use the Spector/wall of sound production style which basically means they play their instruments and vocals in unison. It gives it this hollow, yet dense and trippy vibe throughout

If it the mono bothers you so much, just listen to the stereo rendition, but it's the worst choice.

Imagine not even enjoying the other singles like Sloop John B, God Only Knows and Caroline, No... You missing out
