but also I think it's funny this is seen as kendrick's more mainstream album cos apart from the obvious tracks there is a lot of sort of weird stuff on it too, a few songs where he gets into a funny pocket or rhyme scheme which is on its face sort of simplistic or straightforward (intentionally so).
I have my misgivings with it but I also like how kendrick has like 3 albums now where he kinda wrestles with these bigger concepts and doesn't really end up with a definitive point himself or comes up with these answers that I don't necessarily agree with myself. it just feels a bit more challenging or thoughtful than a lot of similarly big rappers manage.

That’s the thing about Kendrick lamar albums.
And highkey the reason why with the exception of section .80 a lot of us shouldnt have put that “savior” title on him to begin with.
Classic album imo. Revisited it the other day and the GKMC to DAMN stretch can go toe to toe with any rap trilogy
I wish this album had some studio footage man, I needed to see how songs like DUCKWORTH. or FEAR. came to life, the highs on this are the highest of his career imo.
DAMN is fantastic. barely play it but I used to play it all the time in 2017 even had the CD.
was indifferent towards it for a long time but it is incredible. I know nearly the whole thing word for word at this point. he has such a unique outlook on life and how fame and money tampers with that, a continued theme in all his projects really
Funnily enough this is my least favourite album for me. I feel like the songs are really good which is normal for kendrick. But the whole concept, the front to back, back to front thing could have been executed better. Hard to explain what was off about it. I think maybe it was a bit too complex for my younger mind at the time. I appreciate it more now
DAMN. would be a classic to me if not for like 3 mid songs
Which ones did you not like?
Songs I didn’t really like were God, Humble, and Love, rest are great tho, Fear probably my fave kenderick track
Classic, how he crafted the world of damn with kid Capri and the singing interludes, damn man, he was on s*** talk mountain. The nigga came off tpab, with an even bigger chip on his shoulder, godamn bro
There's no song I hate on damn. I might not like all of them but there are no stinkers, tpab and gkmc had no stinkers, this guy is an alien
