Chronic 2001 happened huge in part because of Em, Em did a lot of Dre's parts & one of the major figures of the album.

And even beyond that Dre along with West Coast was still being held by ems name & supported, LA wise. Early 2000s.

Lets not even talk about how Em finally put Detroit on the map Rap wise.

His contributions are important, even if his past is extra suspect.
