Just talking about 1921 rn (peep thread title)
wake me up when you get to the 50's OP @Elric
1920 had Caligari
1922 had Nosferatu
Off by a year each
cabinet des dr. caligari is probably the best of 1920. der golem is also highly rated n respected but it's sum dog s*** to me
1922 def debatable tho not sure if i'd put nosferatu first, perhaps mabuse der spieler or häxan. foolish wives also fiyah
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse is the title. It needs restoration work though..

Don't worry Murnau will be winning every other year for me probably

Murnau my goat but Foolish Wives and Dr Mabuse are way better than Nosferatu. I'd rather watch Grandma's Boy even.

Still looks hard tho
this 1921 Max Linder silent comedy is amazing. Dude was one of the very first movie stars (france) and a big influence on Chaplin. The dance scene 24 minutes in is priceless

peeped a lot of his shorts and they're really brilliant
need to see some features of his later on.
such a sad ending to his career and life too
Literally the only film I have from 1921 marked on LB is The Haunted Castle by Murnau so I guess I'll go with that
