it's weird because when kanye records demos he sounds like his old self but when he has to turn those demos into real songs his voice sounds more weak and low energy. compare the LP1 version of remote to the released version of remote, he sounds a lot more bored on the latter version. i think he takes finishing songs as a chore and doesn't enjoy it as much as freestyling them so the passion isn't there sometimes.

Drake always sounds too dorky for me to take it seriously when he's trying to go hard. Ye is less technical but comes off as more believable/raw

I wanted to say Drake first but then Ye's whole rapping style during WTT/CS era came up in my mind and I think its Ye. His voice is just more raw and powerful when he actually wants to use it.
Drake has been better in the last years for sure tho. I think Ye doing christians albums is why he can’t really emphasize his voice like that really lately because the songs are more soft
