when it comes to looking at it not from a nostalgia standpoint but from how the character is written,and how their story plays out my personal list is:

1- Arthur morgan- i actually felt really sad when he died at the end. I cant remember the last time a video game characters death made me feel this sad. thankfully i got the high honor ending. but its interesting how his character develops from the first chapter to chapter 6 when he has the tuberculosis. In my opinion hes the most well written character in the any rockstar game and he makes rdr2 one of the best games of the decade.

2- John marston- Him and CJ are definitely the coolest characters in any rockstar game. The ending of rdr was sad af. I moved him up after playing him in rdr2 and what happens then.

3- CJ- I know this will be controversial but I'm putting him here but he would have been 1st or 2nd if rdr2 hadn't come out.

4- Niko bellic- Likeable character whos easy to cheer for. His story is gritty af just like the gta 4 in general and the decisions you made actually affected the universe in a serious way. Unlike gta 5 where decisions didnt really feel like they had serious weight (except for the final mission)

5- Michael- I put him here instead of franklin who felt sort of like a less interesting CJ and trevor who i never liked. Michael is an a****** that you eventually start to like and want to see him succeed/get his family back. GTA 5 had a big problem with 3 interesting plot lines that never truly felt like they got resolved. Each of the 3 characters could have had his own game but it felt like their stories were wrapped up too hastily.

Apparently he was a pain in the ass to work with, so no one has hired him to do voice over work again lol

He did an A1 job tho, especially at a time when the voice acting in games wasnt all that good.

Tommy and Niko. Haven't played either RDR yet but what I've seen of them John and Arthur are cool.
