yeah i did notice the pescado rabioso
You don't want to send me a fresh batch of Argentina classics? Thought you ranked them over Brazil
Space Ritual
Tubular Bells
Potent first listens this morning
yeah Space Ritual is their clear opus for me
surprised you never heard tubular bells
and Little Feat
Ngl it took more listens than it should've to realize what they were singing about lol

only for rock. i only got a few argentine albums for '73, i dont think things fully kicked in for them yet until a bit later. brazil fresher in my mind cuz im ending a phase where i added like 150 new brazilian albums to my arsenal
there might not even be anyone above Brazil period honestly and if so its probably just a couple (like USA or UK). seems to have more diversity in number of genres than anyone else to the point where it feels unfair to compare them to countries with a fraction of their population
as far as i know Argentina still has some great stuff outside of their rock (tango the most famous example) but ive barely heard any of it so cant speak on it
what i got to rec for Argentina rock in 1973 is
Spinetta had a pretty crazy year with a double LP for Pescado Rabioso 2, then his biggest classic with Artaud, and then forming his next band Invisible. i think youve already heard those 2 albums but these non album cuts are worthwhile too. Charly still not passing him up as the leader until 1977 imo
and Pappo dropped a great album of pure heavy blues/psych rock
looks like Arco Iris got another good one from this year but I haven't listened yet. i also gotta check out the 1973 albums from Color Humano, Litto Nebbia, David Lebon. theres some good jazz too actually but thatll be in another post
I know self harm and suicide jokes arent funny but this Genesis album is making me want to cut myself then off myself

It's a shame cause there are a bunch of stunning but all too brief musical moments that come and go before Peter starts yapping again and I want to die

stunning vocals. regal and fantastical but still very emotive
take a little trip back...with father Tiresias...
get ready for that double LP rock opera dose of Peter-led shorter songs for next year (also a total masterpiece)

Battle Of Epping Forest in particular
feel like im the only country fan who doesnt worship this song
a few of the other songs on the album do more for me (including I Will Always Love You)
It's definitely not gonna rank as high as Coal Miners Daughter did for me and ngl the live White Stripes version is the one
gonna try and not immediately flood the thread with my favorites but cmon, what a banger
Forever linked with Guardians Of The Galaxy for better or worse lol

Willie and Waylon synchronizing the (arguable) start of their golden eras this year too

yeah I checked out Honky Tonk Heroes today pretty good
cant say Waylon has kept me as interested as George and Merle have over the last bunch of years. ready for his golden era cause his mid 60s stuff was amazing.

I've broken my Waylon time space continuum
anyway my brazil classics recs @Elric
Jorge Ben album from this year is also very good but its medley re-recordings of his earlier stuff. the arrangements are better than the schmaltzier 60s version tbh
