solo section of Sweet Child o Mine is astounding
I like the first solo too. Slash >>
It’s just the entire second half gets a lot more real
Appetite is a masterpiece imo. Loads of classics and even the weaker tracks bang. Use Your Illusion is too long and should have Been one album but there are also plenty of fantastic tracks on there.
I like the second half of that song more. I can’t take it seriously after finding out they intentionally set out to make a corny radio song. WTTJ and Paradise City though
I like Mr brownstone or whatever
I will not be giving a fair shake to AC/DC or Guns N Roses. Sorry.
what about Van Halen
I’m more open to that but I hate David Lee Roth.
I only know the first album but its an undeniable hard rock opus. alot like Kiss with some flashier guitar. I dont care for DLR either but the music has a ton of swagger.
@Elric This isn’t related to any songs from 74, but I just somehow discovered this masterpiece was a Gene Clark song.
I had only heard of it from the excellent Velvet Crush record Teenage Symphonies to God, which at the time I thought was an original. When we get to 1994 by the time I’m 40 years old, that album is gonna get a lot of picks for this.
man this is alot more stately and earnest than i expected from these guys
One of their best. It’s the song both the Melvin’s and Dinosaur Jr covered.

whew yeah thats a gem. I have it as a bonus track on The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark.
I didnt expect it but man that Roadmaster marination just made my Gene love even deeper hes probably in my top 5 now
I’m more of a Roy Wood guy, but I’m looking forward to 75 cause I’m getting a little more Jeff Lynne pilled lately and I think they both put out some really gorgeous music that year.
ok im not about to look thru all 35 pages yet but ill throw a few select highlights for me
Bowie and Queen could also have spots on here too they had some solid stuff that year
I’ve been listening to a lot of Roxy Music lately and they’re easily one of my favorite bands of the 70’s and I think Bryan Ferry is a genius, but I still struggle to get what all the For Your Pleasure fans are on about. Eno is great at bringing greatness out of a good band, but he sometimes sabotages the instincts of one that’s already great. In Every Dream Home a Heartache is brilliant tho.
Gordon Lightfoot with two bangers
