which kinks album did you say was underrated for this year again? @Fella
I gave Soap Opera a few spins and it was.... interesting lol
Yeah Soap Opera is rough. I was talking about this one.

!https://youtube.com/watch?v=kcJzLe4gkEU&si=5yD_J9QiQpogcddUim gonna marinate of Soap Opera for a while first. I could tell there was some good melodies in there but the lyrics seem a little heavy handed for Ray. the "might as well kill yourself if youre white/blue-collar or lower class" joke wore thin pretty quick.
ACDC with two super bangers (the Australian album T.N.T. is from December 1975)

Yeah there’s some good stuff on there for sure, it’s just a hokey concept and can get grating at times. I remember liking Everybody’s A Star and Underneath the Neon Sign.
Journey opening their debut with this banger. Def prefer it to their other more popular hits

album is good imo but that first song blew me away.
didn't listen yet. Gonna tell what i think of it.
Listening to Springsteen's Born To Run (album) for the first time rn
I already liked the title song, but never heard the full album.
Jungleland is the one

I’m have gonna have to give it another try. The guitar work on it was great and I loved the general mood, but I felt it was ultimately like a tease. It’s so much build up with little relief. Maybe I’ll get used to that on repeat listens.
is scaruffi right about Death: You’re a Prisoner (for the Whole World to See) being 1975?
according to Wikipedia, yes. However, that's one of the songs on his list I'm not really feeling. Same thing with Heart Of Darkness being this high. Next year's Final Solution is imo their best pre-Modern Dance single.
listening to Gavin Bryars atm @Elric
apparently it's from 1971.
gives me The Master vibes. liking it so far

also kinda Godspeed found sound stuff minus the the rock and roll elements
my 1001 Songs You Need To Hear book had the wrong date?

HOD sounded hard when it came on in the whip the other day

guess it's release date (1975) and not composition date (1971). just doublechecked it. it's a beautiful piece. love the melancholy
When it comes to Classical music I usually look after composition date.

hmmmm.. I'll give it another spin even though I've listened to it a couple times already
Peter Hammil's album this year was pretty great on first listen. didn't like Godbluff that much by comparison. I'll give it another spin tho.
@Elric yeah this album is insane. crazy psychedelic ayahuasca journey. saw some comparisons saying it was like Brazilian equivalent of Comus and in some ways its similar vibe. ritualistic earthy ancient spirits vibe

I revisited Born to Run, and while it’s good of course, it’s far from my favorite Springsteen album. I like pretty much all of his 80’s catalog, Darkness, and The Wild, The Innocent more.
This is so good @Elric
!https://youtube.com/watch?v=9VaKENF4W1E&si=YZygySTdO31HHFdHYeah I have that album queued up, will listen soon. Did you hear his song Stories from last year? Probably the best new song I discovered

Yeah I like what I’ve heard from it.
